Growing up, I always know that I don’t want to be somebody else but my own. My dream when I was a kid was to have my own personal camera and photo studio. Some of my friends knows me by my name but there are only few who knows me well. I have always been different- when some of my childhood friends played football I was out with my uncle, with his old camera, we sometimes go to the forest to capture some micro photography, fruits, insects, flowers and many more.
Enough of the talk, let me introduce myself.
My name is Emmanuel Makubabha, from a small town called Sibasa,in Limpopo South Africa. I lost both of my parents to a house fire when I was 6, my uncle and his dear wife has been my guardians since then. I started my elementary school lately, I attended Makwarela Lower Primary School, Sibasa Limipopo. Completed my Secondary education in Mphaphuli Secondary School, I couldn't furthermore due to financial reasons. I told my uncle my passion for Photography. I finally got my own first camera when I was 24 and my Photography journey begun at that moment.
Other Hobbies Apart From Photography
Apart from Photography, I played the keyboard instrument in my church,I also spend most of my leisure time on the internet, looking for new things and opportunities. I love to discover new things, makes new friends and always looking forward for new adventures and thrill.
My Work, My Photography Journey
After getting my first camera, I started going to local events to take photos, most of the times I don't get any pay, sometimes a little one or a food/snacks as a reward.
8 years ago, everything changed, I attended an event as usual. Then it happens that one of my ex classmate was the event planner. We jammed into each other, and it was a big surprise, he asked how I was doing and what I'm up to, I explained everything to him and he asked if I could work for him and get paid weekly for going out and covering events with him. I agreed immediately and then my Journey as a professional photographer began.
My Family
I'm excited to tell you all that I'm a lovely dad, with one daughter, my wife is doing great and my daughter is in Secondary School. The money I make through my Photography works has helped me to solve all my bills and expenses without any debts.
How I discovered Hive
Like all other professional photographer, the aim is to promote and advestise our photos and works , I usually use Facebook, I created an account, and open a page Emma-maku Photos, but the page and account was disabled,due to some reason I'm yet to understand. I created another one recently and it was disabled again. So decided to browse the solution to this, Search on Google the reasons my Facebook account was disabled, that moment I discovered about decentralized and centralized social media, I now understand that Facebook was centralized meaning I don't have full control over it, I keep exploring the internet looking for a better decentralized social media where I will have complete control over my account, then I got to know about Hive, I saw a couple of post and navigating through the comments I saw a link to OCD discord server. I joined the channel and I showed my interest to join the platform.. and I received the best answer, they all treated me right, answered all my questions and help me with the link to sign up.
Final Words
I have learned to master my courage on trusting strangers and think of them negatively; and I have been more understanding and patient whenever things don’t turn my way. Photography is an art of self-discovery and the best life teacher. Photography has been part of me since I was a kid, my aim now is to build one of the biggest photo empire in South Africa. With hardwork, determination and God's grace I'm one step away from getting there.
I will be sharing my day to day activities, Micro and Marco Photography,events and parties I covered, my customers photoshoots and pre-events pictures. weekly report of all my activities and some reviews on different cameras I have seen and used.
