If not for the hype, I would not be able to know about Squid Game. So I watched it out of curiosity. It's kinda amazing, though still expected because of the hype, how a single show turned my social media feeds with tons of memes, reviews, merchandise, parodies, etc. of the show. And even more remarkable is that the local kids in our community have modified our versions of the "games" to resemble those of the Korean versions!
Sometimes, this "power" of algorithms gives me chills.
It is amazing how quickly culture can spread globally - in literally the space of a few weeks, people all over the world are doing the same thing... It is scary.
