Recently I have hit a crossroad when it comes to what I want to do with my life. Maybe it’s the fact that yet another birthday lingers around the corner or could be down to an accidental course of self improvement
Blogging or even writing of any kind was never really in my forte but one day as I was slaving away on life’s grindstone of work, @stevenwood approached me and asked a question that would open a new world in my uninteresting life...
are you into writing?
You can tell from the above that my answer should of been, no, not really but instead of just dismissing the question, I decided to hear where he was going with it.
He told me about a blogging platform that rewards you with a token for writing blogs.
My first thoughts were “ I couldn’t write note on a stamp„ but the more he spoke, the more I was intrigued.
Can we start over?
From Steemit to Whaleshares’s and now on Hive, I have put three years into blogging but man! It feels like a life time.
At first it sounded easy
- introduce yourself
- start blogging
- earn rewards
But you and I know ( or maybe you don’t) it’s not as easy as that. Their is a lot more to it than just sitting in front of your keyboard and typing about random things and coupling that with free stock images from Pixabay that have probably been used a hundred times over.
For people to know you, you first have to know them.
One of the biggest lessons that I have learnt while blogging over the three year is that socialising and communities are where you should be starting.
It’s like advertising
If you want people to buy your product then you need to let people know that your product is there and you do this by interacting with the very people that Your product will suit.
I wouldn’t write a blog about eating steak and post it in a vegan community ( well, I say that but if it has relevance) but you get what I am saying. It takes more than a some words on a page to really get the true benefit for your time on any platform.
Thats the problem
But hold on. Didn’t you just say it was a method of success?
You know you have hit a crossroads when then one thing that will give you good results is the one thing that is getting on your way. I started on Steemit and after 4 months of throwing out blogs like bait on a rod and hoping that someone would be kind enough to bite, I finally realised that of you stop and get to know the many members on the platform, they will be less likely to miss your blog. I carried this over when, people I got to know had invited me to a new platform called Whaleshares. The beauty of Whaleshares ( at that time) was that it was a blank canvas and most people who joined from day 1, I already knew so that bridge building suddenly became an easy task.
2 year went by and I had built up a great profile and my name was well know throughout the platform. Then penis gatehappened and the community I once was a big part of crumbled away. Now I’m not saying that I have wasted them two year, far from it. Those two year helped me become the person I am today.
Yes it was hard at first, getting to know people and learning about how to create a following but all that time and money spent has now become a realisation that I invested in myself.
YES!
the platform maybe dead and all that time maybe something to tell the grandchildren about, but I am a better person for it.
NOW!
I am in a situation where I feel like I am starting all over again and I know that lots of my time and hard work will have to be put into get that feeling back. So that leaves me with the question...
Am I ready for blogging?
(Just to name a few) Who have already touched base with my arrival here I feel that this is the right place to be.
I just need to decide if I’m ready to unplug from the matrix and plummet down the rabbit hole once again. Basically, can I give this the time I know it needs.Luckily I have came here to The Hive with some transferable skills and with members like @c0ff33a, @stevenwood, @nainaztengra , @keithboone, @shadowspub, @acidyo, @momogrow, @cherie, and @raymondspeaks
What took you so long to get to the most rewarding platform on the Internet ?
Sending you Bro...
