First impressions from a new HIVE blockchain user and OCD fan - The good - The bad - The ugly

in OCD3 years ago

I have to say i feel kinda blessed with my hive real start, i found out about hive on April 2018, but was thanks to OCD members i really got an account to work with and even after registering took me 220 days or more of discord chat and DMs to actually start posting anything at all.

The good...

I imagine new users feel they can't really have a go at it now, that in some way they are "late" for this blockchain, i felt the same, but this is how #ocd became of great importance. Hive being a huge ecosystem makes the learning curve really hard for new users, lots of things to consider, a lot of apps to access it and post with. Making one feel welcome is not the easiest thing to do when you deal with constant abuse and plagiarism on something that involves money so high props to this team for the hard work, curating content is no joke at all!

Case in point, my usual stance on social media despite outspoken is much productive on HIVE so far precisely due to the work done orientating me to the sub set of tasks/topics that best suits my manner of writing and producing value to others, credit to this team again on the work they put into discover and harness underrepresented or undervalued posts / users.

The range of topics i find is very diverse and i feel this is part of a lot of users day to day life, and it is great to see the blockchain in everyday life of people, many of them in more remote areas, makes me feel more motivated to connect with them, because i can't have that experience, learn that trade, or learn the recipe without that local knowledge, this sense of being a part should be a great aspect of any positive experience a user will have on a social network imho.

This was a lot of the good things top of my mind, there is a lot to absorb so maybe i can revise this with more details in the future, but this are awesome parts of hive and the OCD work i find very worthy of mention.

The bad...

There is a great deal of reashing of older articles or twists and turns on subjects or themes that are not that worthy imo, and this are the same users that complaint a lot about rewards, because i am new maybe i was not around when rewards would be bigger, but i think, like i think in many aspects of money from scratch, you have to suck it up or step your game up, crying and moaning to others wont do you any good, or conquer any fans, nobody likes someone winning all the time.
On this note, i refrained a lot from posting so far on that daily basis, but because i did not want to look like someone who was posting only because he wants some more hive, i been trying to work with all the aspects of the platform, and get to know how things work, find some niches i was good at and communities like minded and go from there. Then i came to realize that some people post a lot of not so good content and most times even with those rewards insta cash outs if possible, i was disappointed was thinking i would see a lot more power up, maybe i see it wrong but i must say if i had to be in a place 4 dollars would feed me i would not give it a minute thinking, we never know what motivates someone to cash out or to start with this even.

And the ugly...

I see a lot of fake profiles all day long, some people photoshop with paint proficiency of a 6 year old some photo into a blank background making a mockery of spam itself, i dont know if this are kids with no life, real spammers trying to get by, or just dumb people that think that would go unnoticed, whatever the reason i also been thinking that all that work put into something productive like a real profile with a real posting of real world experience would go a longer way, i do not like it at all and would love some way to avoid this influx of fakers, this takes work then to weed out, this been a real turn off seeing feeds with intros and realizing it is just fake af...

Conclusion

In conclusion i started to setup some goals for myself on this platform, i have made some outstanding and interesting albeit weirdo friends in here, i love some of them already just cause they been o sincere and open about their life, really starting to feel a part of this.
Also decided to sell some shitcoins Alts i had laying around and turn them into HIVE so i can power up despite any rewards. I usually set surreal goals and believe it or not i sometimes make them happen ;) i am hoping i can harvest enough power to promote the new real people i can get into this, i love being part of the onboarding team, and anxious to invite more and more of some great talented people i have encountered along my life and bring them onboard to HIVE. And also on the other side of that i would love them to meet HIVE and understand what it can mean when this models prevails over the FB and other stuff, it is almost like games with user paying VS games with user ownership of items, this is the kind of fight i think we are and i am glad and proud to help!

Cheers all!

PS: Being on HIVE also made me realized why on my affiliate time i would not touch any images or art work or banners at all, i just don't care about it but images in a post is something one should have not only SEO but cause it can be fun and used to break the ice or relieve the reader or entice him further, natural conclusion? i need to find someone to supply me graphics and images, proper ones, so i don't have to crop from pics of my old VHS collection :D

Wow, that's quite a long time to lurk, @feanorgu! 😄

Canva, which is a free site you can use to create banners, graphics, blog thumbnails and such (they do have an expanded pay version too, but the basic works just fine for me).As far as graphics go, I was just telling @chocolatescorpi about

Glad to see you posting now. 😊

Hehe it was a real long time! we had talked before in chat and all i was just not participating on HIVE, glad i started. Nice tip on the Canvas yesterday wrote something about new pointers and feedback for new users and this one would have been a good fit to make a reference about. Cheers
