On October 8 of this year, one of the biggest tragedies in Venezuela since December 15, 1999, took place. A situation that marked a before and after in the town of #tejerias located in the state of Aragua.
The situation:
The last two weeks have brought a wave of continuous rainfall that has caused among other things; blackouts, landslides, and minor material losses in the country, however, it was not until October 8 that one of the biggest tragedies occurs in the town of Tejerias, a community located in Aragua state and whose flow overflowed and dragged with it homes, vehicles and everything in its path. Flooding streets of the town and ending life as we knew it for its inhabitants.
Official figures:
According to data collected by the presidency of the republic, the death toll has risen to more than 40 people, with approximately 56 people missing and more than 700 homes affected.
The search for survivors continues to be carried out by government agencies, together with the military, firefighters, civil protection, and other official bodies, where many neighbors claim that the number of missing persons continues to grow as more information and local censuses are collected.
The rains and their effects:
Venezuela is characterized by having diverse mountain ecosystems, Tejerías for its part is a city surrounded by them and whose streams cross the center of the town. The rains were a turning point because the mountain, whose land is swampy, gave way and many tons of debris came down with the force of the river that sought its natural course.
According to information from the Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace, Remigio Ceballos, during the last few days, record rainfall was recorded in the affected area, comparable to a month. "We had large volumes of water falling, 108 liters per square meter", highlighted the interior authority.
This, coupled with the fact that the town was built without prior planning, meant that people's ignorance led them to believe that since it was a small river, it would never grow with such magnitude as to wipe out everything in its path.
Foundations, NGOs, public and private sector:
Since October 9, a diversity of organizations and public and private entities have joined together to create collection centers, where they receive donations such as clothing, food, personal hygiene items, medicines and other necessary items to support these people.
Our foundation collected supplies in the town of Charallave in the state of Miranda, using the support of civil society and merchants to bring as many donations as possible to the town of #tejerias.
In this way we were able to support 4 sectors of the same being these: Pinto Salinas, Libertador, El Matadero, and El Plan (sector located in one of the most mountainous areas.
Support needed in the coming weeks:
As a foundation we plan to visit within two weeks (October 28-29), in order to bring more donations, this in order to cushion the needs of some sectors that do not give enough with the number of people affected.
This is why we ask for the collaboration of the community in order to be able to take the most essential items:
Food.
Personal hygiene items.
Medicines.
Plates and cutlery.
Maternal formulas.

El pasado 8 de Octubre del presente año se vivió una de las mayores tragedias en Venezuela desde aquel 15 de Diciembre de 1999. Una situación que marcó un antes y un después en el pueblo de #tejerias ubicado en el estado Aragua.
La situación:
Las ultimas dos semanas han traído consigo una oleada de precipitaciones continuas que han ocasionado entre otras cosas; apagones, deslaves y perdidas materiales menores en el país, sin embargo no fue sino hasta el 8 de Octubre que ocurre una de las mayores tragedias en el poblado de Tejerias, una comunidad ubicada en el estado Aragua y cuyo caudal se desbordó y arrastró consigo viviendas, vehículos y todo a su paso. Inundando calles de la localidad y acabando con la vida como la conocíamos para sus pobladores.

Cifras oficiales:
Segun datos recabados por la presidencia de la republica el saldo de fallecidos a aumentado a mas de 40 personas, con aproximado de 56 personas desaparecidas y más de 700 viviendas afectadas.
La busqueda por sobrevivientes continua siendo ejecutada por entes gubernamentales de la mano de militares, bomberos, proteccion civil y demás cuerpos oficiales, en donde muchos vecinos afirman que la cifra de desaparecidos sigue en crecimiento a medida que se recaba más información y censos locales.
Las lluvias y sus efectos:
Venezuela esta caracterizada por poseer diversos ecosistemas de montaña, Tejerías por su parte es una ciudad rodeada de ellas y cuyos caudales atraviesan el centro del pueblo. Las lluvias protagonizaron un antes y un después motivado a que la montaña cuyas tierras es de carácter pantanosa, cedió y muchas toneladas de escombros bajaron con la fuerza del río que buscó su cauce natural.
Según información del ministro de Interior, Justicia y Paz, Remigio Ceballos, durante los últimos días se registraron récords pluviométricos en la zona afectada comparables con un mes. “Tuvimos grandes volúmenes de agua cayendo, 108 litros por metro cuadrado”, destacó la autoridad de interior.
Esto aunado al hecho de que el pueblo fue construido sin previa planificación desembocó en que la ignorancia de las personas intuyó que al ser un río pequeño, nunca crecería con tal magnitud como para acabar con todo a su paso.

Las fundaciones, ONG, sector público y privado:
Desde el 9 de Octubre diversidad de organizaciones y entes públicos y privados se han unido creando centros de acopios, en los cuales reciben donativos como ropa, alimentos, artículos de aseo personal, medicinas y demás enseres necesarios para apoyar a estas personas.
Nuestra fundación por su parte realizó recolectas de insumos en la localidad de Charallave en el estado Miranda, sirviéndose del apoyo de sociedad civil y comerciantes para llevar la mayor cantidad posible de donativos a la localidad de #tejerias
De tal forma pudimos apoyar a 4 sectores de la misma siendo estos: Pinto Salinas, Libertador, El matadero, y el Plan (sector ubicado en una de las zonas más montañosas.

Apoyo necesario en las próximas semanas:
Como fundación tenemos planeado visitar nuevamente dentro de dos semanas (28-29 de Octubre), con la finalidad de llevar más donativos, esto con el fin de amortiguar las necesidades de algunos sectores que no se dan abasto con la cantidad de personas damnificadas.
