Hello, Hive Families,
It has been such a long time since I last wrote here, and I have missed sharing my work, and thoughts and connecting with all of you. I guess it’s not too late to wish you all a Happy New Year and Happy New Month of Love. I pray that 2025 brings you joy, love, success, and fulfilment. My church’s watchword for this year is Legacy; we will honor God and serve men with all our hearts and minds. I am excited to finally return here to share with you all that has been happening to me since my last blog post here. Consider this post both a reintroduction and a fresh start.
In June 2024, my fiancé asked for my hand in marriage, guys "Instagram Love" was about to be sealed with God's blessing via a ring. After the engagement, we informed our parents and friends, and they were so excited and ready to prepare for the big day. From picking a venue, choosing the perfect dress, curating our guest list, and making endless decisions, planning our wedding was both intense and stressful. It was a deeply emotional and joyous phase of life, filled with anticipation and so many things to be handled.
We had our prewedding photoshoot a few weeks after the engagement, I don't want to exaggerate, it was so fun, and exciting, and we were both playful, you can tell from the photos when you see them. My outfits were made by one of my favorite friends Tosin, she put in her best and went all out to make me look beautiful for my husband. My husband's friend who is a makeup artist, did my makeup without receiving any payment including the gele stylist. Everything went smoothly, I couldn't stop thanking them because I had received so much love already.
Our wedding was a dream come true! One of the most beautiful aspects of it was bringing our loved ones together from different states to Lagos. Seeing family and friends travel from far and wide just to celebrate with us made the occasion even more special. It was a garden wedding, an evening kind of vibe. We had our closest friends and families celebrate us and the day was filled with so much love, joy, and unforgettable moments that I and my husband will cherish forever. Guys guess what? My husband and I planned our wedding, we put in our best and with the help of God, friends and family it was a success. The planning wasn't so easy but we did it. I’ll be sharing more about our wedding experience in an upcoming post. Stay tuned guys (lol)i
A few days after our wedding, I moved to Port Harcourt to begin a new chapter with my husband. Adjusting to the new city was challenging but my husband and his friends made it so easy for me. One of the most heartwarming surprises was from our friends in Port Harcourt. They planned a surprise wedding reception for us! It was such a thoughtful and amazing thing to do, and it truly made us feel welcome in our new home. Till now, I haven’t gotten over the excitement. My husband was the most surprised because he is such a curious person, and for him not to figure out the planning, especially when the event was fully organized by one of his closest friends-turned-brother, left him speechless.
As we began to settle down, I slowly started embracing this new phase of life. Making new friends, running my photography business and building a community were all part of the journey. My first real community here started in church, and it has been a place of comfort and connection ever since. Being surrounded by like-minded people has made the transition smoother for me and I’m grateful for the relationships I’ve built so far.
We got a one-month-old male puppy just a few weeks after getting to Port Harcourt. It's a mixed breed, Kimola. Training the puppy has to be one of our official duties as husband and wife. it was more like we were both training a child. I won't lie, it was stressful at first because we have never owned a puppy. Sometimes when we both go out for work or church, we always rush home because we have a puppy at home (lol). We named him after my husband's brand name "Blacc" from "Kodeblacc" He is 5 months already. I had my birthday on the 3rd of January and he joined me for my photoshoot. It was a struggle doing that but we got some photos to share.
And guys, I never stopped photographing. I have been working hard to build my brand here in the new city and my Lagos brand has also been functioning. I have team members handling my sessions in my absence, and It hasn't been easy but God has been helping me. In December, I had my first Christmas family shoot session with a family of seven, including little kids in Port Harcourt. I enjoyed the session so much! I also added video content creation to my skills, I got two paid jobs, which I completed and delivered. I work with my husband alongside other creative minds in the new city, and it has been amazing. I also reconnected with one of my amazing senior colleagues in Lagos, a female photographer. She had a wedding event in Port Harcourt and contacted me to work with her. We had a great time working together for the two-day event. I loved that I experienced Lagos in Port Harcourt.
Another big step I took was resuming my gym workouts. Fitness has always been important to me, and getting back into a gym routine has been both refreshing and rewarding. I've also been using this opportunity to network, connect with like-minded individuals, and promote my brand in this new city. I’ve made great friends, and guess what, guys? I have officially started my weightlifting journey! (lol) I can’t wait to share my fitness journey and experiences. Watch out for me (lol)
I think I have been able to share with you a sneak peek of how life has been since I got married to my wonderful husband. My goal for this blog is to stay more consistent because I have so many things to share, from my engagement to my wedding, the surprise party we had in Port Harcourt, and my fitness journey, and I will also be sharing more about my faith because God is the giver of life. Oh, I forgot to mention that we are currently renovating our photography studio space, remember, my husband and I are both photographers.
