That is true, indeed. And it feels good to be loved and to love.
It also pains being viewed in a bad light.
Yes, we should reflect on that. Did we do something wrong? But this path of self-doubt is a dangerous one. Sometimes we did not do anything wrong and yet we get the feeling it is our fault.
Recognizing those moments and developing a healthy reflection on that lays ground for true happiness and a healthy self-esteem.
I feel if people become more aware of their influence on others they might just strive to be better people(especially parents and children relationship)
Sadly I have to say I see the opposite sometimes. Those with influence and aware of it use it to raise their self-esteem by lowering that of others.
