My little red home.
It was late spring last year. In the middle of June it was still much snow from around 700 meters above the sea and up. We was on a 3 days hike and the first night we spent on around 800 meters. As you can see there is still much snow and ice on the little lake.
In the evening we arrived the lake and decided to stay there overnight near the water and a little shelter behind the cliffs.
The first we do when making camp for the night is to prepare food to the dog and set up the tent. For a little extra comfort we use arifilled sleeping pad, I am too old to sleep on the ground :-)
This is one of today's highlights for Nero, food. We use freeze-dried meat when we are out hiking. This food has less weight than ordinary dry-food and easy to carry. Nero have to carry his own little backpack (unsure what it is called in english) He can carry around 6 kilos without any trouble. in addition to the food he carries two sleeping mats. He is a clever boy and like to work a little.
When the tent is up and ready it is time to make food for ourselves. On this hike we also used dried vegetables and meat with rice or pasta. Better than any bought dry food. As you can see Nero closely monitors whether it should be a treat or not. No food at the table, but maybe some leftovers after the meal.
To make food and have something to drink wee need water. We are lucky, where i live we can use and drink water from any lake, rivers or streams. On this camp we had ice water.
The temperatur in the lake must have been only a couple degrees celcius. I was freezing cold on my hands after filling the bottles.
The next best thing in camp after a good meal is laying in the tent and relaxing in a warm sleeping bag. When we open the door in the tent Nero is very eager to get in and lay down on the sleeping pad. He love to be with us in the tent.
After a day ut in the mountain it is good to sleep. Neros fart after eating are not the best smell in the world though. He is early awake in the morning, move a little and you have a wet tongue in the face.
A last little trip out before bed and it is sleeping time...
