Finally, Our Hive has embarked its journey where steem could have been many years ago. Today, I was reading some content on Medium. I started to think whether Hive could attract the general population. Can Hive become another synonym to quality?
I think there are many people on hive creating a great content. So can I compare Hive to Medium? As there are some fundamental design difference between them- way Medium pay their writers is quite different, and it doesn't pay readers or a person who engages with the content (this only happen here on Hive:-D). If you are a reader I can only assure the quality of the content on Medium, but apart from this I don't see other design aspects which are better than Hive.
I think Hive brings an opportunity to everyone in its ecosystem. It gives a sense of community but I won't talk about it much as I am asking a serious question here?
What can be done as early adopters to make Hive a great ecosystem for everyone?
There are three main pillars of our community- creator, consumer and curator.
- Creator - Many of us emphasize that Hive does not add sufficient monetary value to a lots of creators. It doesn't value their time which they invest in creating the content. Can we solve it together? Do we have a more decentralized or unbiased approach to solve this serious problem?
Now I don't say that I've created a great content on hive but I am thinking to bring a great value to this platform. Value takes time and energy. So if we want to take the next step towards Hive-2025, it should contain great plans for creators, and I know we can solve this through serious non-egoistic discussion.
- Consumer- I dare to say that I spend more time reading on medium than hive. I consider myself a serious consumer. I am talking from the perspective of someone who is coming here from the platform like Quora or Medium. Do we have content which can retain end-users and provide them the value in terms of education, entertainment or whatsoever they are interested in?
Hive-2025 must be a platform for its end-users.
It is great that readers can earn money but it is still not enough to actually engage them on emotional or intellectual level. I pay to be on Medium and still I am satisfied with the value it provides to me. There are no monetary benefits for readers on Medium, but their design can still retain the end user like me. I am surprised to tell you that Quora do not even pay their content creators or consumers, and still people write their experiences on this platform which attract a large amount of traffic. It is not always about money sometimes we satisfy ourselves with other forms of value.
SO why is it that hive can't have war against centralized platform which have no revolutionary design at all. I think we together can thrive to make Hive the greatest platform for the users in our ecosystem. All it takes is our selfless approach to rethink, redesign and have serious discussion with the most influential people on this platform.
- Curators- I would like to ask you about their role. I know many of them and they are working quite tirelessly. I know this role takes some serious work and responsibility. But again, I believe this pillar still need some strength in the current ecosystem of Hive.
I want your participation here; your ideas and concerns may differ so I need your suggestions to improve the quality of this article. Please leave a comment!
We’re early adopters and stake holders of HIVE.
Let’s do what we can to build a strong ecosystem in the long-term thinking.
I’ll be focusing on building strong global community
I am always inspired by the communities. I am looking at an effort, time and willingness you are showing on twitter to attract people. It is just amazing.
