Charles Leiper Gregg; He was born in Missouri, USA in the year 18. As an adult, he moved to St. Louis, where he began working in the advertising and sales sectors. That's when Greg got acquainted with soft drinks.
In 1919, Gregg was working for a manufacturing company owned by Wes Jones. While there, Gregg invented an orange-flavored soft drink called Whistle for Jones' farm; It is also marketed. Anyway, in the end, Greg left because of a problem with the management, leaving Whistle behind.
He then joined Warner Jackinson Company. There also continue to work with the flavor of soft drinks. While working here, the second soft drink Howdy came holding Greg's hand. He did not make the same mistake as Warner Jackinson when he left, bringing with him all of Howdy's rights.
Greg realized that it was possible to make a big difference in the soft drink industry. That's why he found a money investor, named Edmund G. Ridgeway. Until then, he had two soft drinks with orange flavors, but he could not stand in front of the market giant Orange Crush. So Greg didn't mind anymore and then got drunk with lemon-lime soda.
Greg finally saw success in October 1929, inventing a new soft drink formula, called the 'Bib-Label Lithium Lemon-Lime Soda'. Shortly after, the name was changed to 'Seven Up Lithium Lemon Soda'. Finally in 1938 it was just 'Seven Up'.
