Welcome My Hive Friends,
President Ranil Wickramasinghe has given instructions to start a cable car project between Pattipola and Boralanda for tourists coming to see the end of the world. He attended the Nuwara Eliya District Development Committee meeting held at the Nuwara Eliya District Secretariat morning (22).
However, although several cable car projects have been initiated in recent times, Sri Lankans have not yet had the opportunity to enjoy the experience of any cable car.
Belihul Oya - End of the World Cable Car Service
On September 25, 2018, the then Governor of Sabaragamuwa Province Mrs. Niluka Ekanayake announced that a cable car service will be started from Belihul Oya to the end of the world near Samanalaweva Reservoir with the support of the Dubai Government. She emphasized that every possible step will be taken to start the project during her tenure as governor.
Cable car service from Nanuoya to Single Tree Mountain and Gregory Lake
The signing of the MoU for Sri Lanka's first cable car project took place on October 13, 2019 at the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council premises. It was headed by Mr. Navin Dissanayake, Minister of Plantation Industry at that time.
As the Nuwara Eliya area, which has a high attraction for local and foreign tourists, is located at the highest elevation in the country and claims a beautiful environment, as a step to further increase the tourist attraction for that area, Outdoor Engineering Lanka Limited to start a cable car project from Nanuoy to Single Tree Mountain and Gregory Lake. The private company and its foreign partners, Dopelme Cable Car Company, had submitted this project proposal.
Accordingly, under an investment of about 50 million US dollars, this project, which is proposed to build 21 towers connecting Nanu Oya Railway Station, Nuwara Eliya Racecourse and the peak of Single Tree Hill, will establish 43 cabins under its first phase consisting of 86 cabins that can accommodate 10 passengers. had been planned.

Kandy - Hantana Cable Car Service
Not only the Sri Lankan media but also the international media had made revelations about the cable car projects in Sri Lanka in the past season.
In November 2020, the Korean Herald reported that Yoo Sun-ha, a 71-year-old Korean entrepreneur, has acquired the business rights of the Kandy cable car project.

Nanu Oya - Nuwara Eliya Cable Car Service
Another cable car project based in Nuwara Eliya was signed in December 2021. It was announced at the time of the signing of the agreement that this project, which is fully implemented under the Swedish foreign aid system, will be developed on a 30-year lease basis with an amount of US$ 55 million.
The MoU was signed in the auditorium of the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing and for that occasion the then Minister of Wildlife and Forest Conservation C.B. Ratnayake, Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, Sirinimal Perera, Chairman of the Urban Development Authority, retired Major General Udaya Nanayakkara,
Mr. Prasad Ranaweera, Director General of Urban Development Authority, Chartered City Architect, Chairman of Outdoor Engineering Company of Sweden and Director of Outdoor Engineering Lanka Private Company Mr. Osbol Garber participated.
At that time, it was mentioned that the primary objective of this cable car project, which runs from Nanuoy to Nuwara Eliya for a distance of 04 kilometers in 02 stages, is to provide an opportunity to enjoy the charm of the environment and to view the surrounding areas from different angles from the sky.
Cable car services based on Sentosa Island in Singapore and Genting Highlands in Malaysia are the most popular cable car services in the Asian region. It has been not years but decades since they started.
But although Sri Lanka has a high potential and good geographical location for such projects, it is unfortunate that they are still topics that are limited to the discussions of politicians and authorities in Sri Lanka.

I didn't say anything about you upvoting your own post, but since you asked, upvoting yourself is not a good practice on Hive. Why not support someone else instead of putting money in your own pocket? If all the whales upvote themselves, there will be zero rewards for everyone else. So you understand why it is greedy to upvote yourself?
I agree with you. thank you very much for your comment. I will correct the mistake from now on.@livinguktaiwan
