I had initially thought of going back to February 4th 1992 and make sure Hugo Chavez did not get his TV time that made him famous and popular. I was also going to make sure he and his co-conspirators somehow get accidentally suicided in prison. That would have prevented 20 years of suffering to the Venezuelan people, about a million deaths derived from chavismo’s intentional rise of crime and poverty, and a trillion-dollar corruption scam. But then I thought that would make me feel a bit guilty. I am not a violent guy and how would I look at my children knowing I had killed in the name of freedom and prosperity?
So, I figured a cleaner way to stop this idiot’s ascend to fame and power would be to stop him from ever playing baseball and thus getting into the military academy. I would have to go then back to 1970 and break his left arm, or his legs. A small price to pay for the good of a whole country and the continent, actually, when you think about the ramifications of his Bolivarian revolution.

Seems like you've got some strong feelings and emotions around this issue. I can see how a time machine would help you satisfy some of those desires to prevent suffering.
I do, unfortunately. I wish I did not feel that way. I may be speaking for some 20 million, most of which have even nastier wishes.
Maybe they'd want to go back to the 50s and get rid of Fidel, or even back to the 1910s and prevent the Bolshevik revolution
There have been many injustices perpetrated by the hand's of humans throughout that ages. It seems that sort of behaviour is inherently part of our makeup.
Unfortunately, it is. It is also inherent in our makeup the stubborn illusion that we can solve all that, that we can have a better world, a fiction we have actually called "no-place", but that does not stop us from toying with the idea.
I don't know if we should call it irony or what.
I'll be honest with you, I feel that humans are on a collision course with extinction and that we will orchestrate our own demise. I don't know when or how, but I don't see how we can continue to behave in the ways we do and expect to survive.
Some may call this fatalistic and that's ok. Some will disagree with me too. But my opinion is that all things come to an end and some point...Even the planet will, so how could we believe we won't also?
The pride, ego and hubris that defines our society will come full-circle at some stage. I won't be here by then though, so I won't care.
I agree. I even think it may happen soon enough for us to witness it; or should I say endure it.
Bloody baseball has a lot to answer for, right?
VZ will rise again by virtue of people power... People will only remain downtrodden for so long. Corruption cannot flourish forever.
Be the very best version of you that you are able to be, smile freely, empower people with kind words and smiles and it will spread, when enough people smile together and open their hearts they become ready to dispel the darkness forever.
I have enjoyed meeting the VZ community members here, I find them so warm and friendly and I know the once proud country will rise again like a phoenix, bigger, better and more connected than ever.
Take good care of you and yours my friend and look to the future, the past, sadly, cannot be undone :)
Thank you very much
Nice words. Deeply appreciated.
Baseball has given us some joy, though. Our players in the big leagues are national heroes. Pity we do not produce politicians or military of that caliber.
You are more than welcome, my friend :)
Sadly certain positions attract those who are corrupt or those who just want to line their own pockets. Stay strong, trust in the people and be optimistic for a bright future. :)
