I have been learning Japanese on and off on Duolingo for quite some time. There was one point I studied for 168 days straight! I got discouraged and didn't open the app for months, so now my streak is back to 10 days.
I learned there is no such thing as lives in the desktop version of Duolingo. I can make as many mistakes as I want.! So I have been using the desktop version instead.
My current rank as of today is fourth in the pearl league. The more lessons you do, the more XP you earn, the higher you rank. Recently, I've been trying to stay in the top three.
My lessons:
Home 1 - 2 mistakes
Intro 3
Counting
Home 1 Mistakes:
子犬と子猫がいます
There are puppies and kittens.
お風呂ではありません
It is not a bathtub.
Counting Mistakes:
りんごを一個ください。
One apple, please.
Interesting fact
個 = Ko ・ Counter for small, round objects (e.g. eggs, bubbles, lightbulbs)
The Japanese have a lot of counters for different types of objects and animals. Having to remember them all is a bit of a chore. I can say counting in English is a lot easier.
After the three lessons, I move up to the third place. I'm satisfied for now, but if I fall lower I usually do more lessons.
I review my mistakes on an app called Quizlet. I like this app because it has an audio option and I don't have to remember how it's pronounced.
