Hello everyone. I just read the post @theycallmedan about #FreeSpeech Initiative. In his post, he mentioned several questions.
- What does Free Speech mean to you?
- Do you believe Free Speech is worth saving? If yes, why do you believe it is important?
Freedom of speech is the freedom that refers to a right to speak freely without any censorship or restrictions but in this case, it is not included in the case for spreading hatred. Freedom of speech also covers various aspects of life media, but what I will discuss on this occasion is freedom on social media, especially in Indonesia.
Opinions are not only conveyed verbally like a speech but can also be through writing and others. Expressing a true opinion is the right of all citizens. Opinions in several countries are still questionable. Because when citizens issue opinions, they will worry that their opinions are labeled contemptuous and because of their own opinions they are overturned by existing laws and norms.
