Hi, dear Hivers
If you ever read some of my early posts, you know that I love makeup and like to do crazy things with it, so when the opportunity presented itself for me to get my first job at a place that was somehow related to makeup products, I thought it was a great coincidence. However, this job is not as glamorous as you may think.
I had been hunting for jobs since I finished my pharmacy assistance course back in July, but so far I have gotten nothing in that area. I started dropping CVs in different places, unrelated to drugstores, and I got a call last week from this new place that sells and distributes cosmetic products.
It is actually pretty close form where I rent, so, that is a good thing.
I was not sure about my specific role here, and I discovered the hard way that I would pretty much be doing a bit of everything. It is a bit tought for a fist job, but I want to see the bright side of it and try to learn every day.
There is a lot of physical effort involved and at the end of the long day it feels really crushing. I also have to deal with collections. It seems that people in this town are not very good at paying their debts. Some of them get really angry when they are reminded that they have pending bills and I have to deal with those nasty arguments.
I also had my first work-related accident. As you saw there is a lot of furniture that needs rearranging and I passed too hastily between a desk and some shelves and got this scratch.
Hopefully, there won't be more accidents and I will get used to this new routine. I have to sacrifice other things for now. I will be getting minimum wage, which here in Brazil is about $250. Not much, but for being a first job, hopefully it will help me get some discipline responsibility and time management skills. Also, it will allow me to cover some of my own expenses. Let's see how long I can stay here.

It might not be your dream position, but it is a step in the right direction.
