Crypto crime in my country

in OCD3 years ago

Good evening everyone, hope you all are enjoying the season so far. I’m happy to share with everyone here how weekend was spent.

It’s been a beautiful and fun filled Christmas night for me and my family, we spent good moments together, ate good foods and other families where also invited over to share with the joy of the season.

After the Christmas Day, it was the Boxing Day the next day which is the 26/12/2021, it’s a ya recognized worldwide as a whole.

In my locality, I’ve been in Akwa Ibom state for the past 11 years with my parents and siblings and with the covid-19 situation it’s been a tough time to cope with the situation, people are restricted over many thing and at such the police uses this medium to embarrass the citizens.

The Boxing Day was a day I was also embarrassed by the so called SARS (Police). I was on my way driving along Ikot ekpene road in Uyo at the early hours of 09:00 am to get some stuffs from the store and after that go to check on a friends, the vehicle which I was inside was stopped by the police at a check point and I was forced to come down from the ride. When I got out from the vehicle the police demanded for my cell phone and asked I should unlock it for them to access my phone, being my privacy I insisted not to give out my cell phone to them which warranted the leader of the team to slap me at that point.

That’s a picture of me inside the police van, it was taken by a friend that stood from distance.

I was so embarrassed by that act and tears run out my eyes, after thy they force me inside their vehicle and took me to the police station. There I wasn’t allowed to give a statement and they still demanded I should unlock my cell phone. Finally I accepted to unlock my device because I had nothing that’d complicate me out there.

Unluckily for me they discovered I was using Binance which is a crypto app and also had twitter installed on my iPhone. There I was asked to give why I’m using those two applications after they might have banned the citizens from using it.

In my country, they see crypto currency as a taboo and they decided to restrict the use of this coins, for over-the years crypto currencies haven’t been used here but just about few months ago the same government that prohibited crypto currency now brought about a new crypto coin known as eNaira.

eNaira source.
Currently now this crypto called eNaira is still in existence and it’s owned by the Nigerian Government.

Lastly after everything was settled in the police station, I was fined the sum of 45,000 NGN which is equivalent to 100HBD OR $110 USD. This really hurts that it happened at this time that things are hard and I’m pleading for the hive members to help look into this matter and get to se how this issue is being resolved because we’re no more safe in this country if they can’t adopt to the new lifestyle ways of making life more easy for everyone. I don’t see using crypto apps as a taboo, it’s seriously annoying thing to me.
Thanks for going through my post
