5 YEARS OF BLOCKCHAIN BLOGGING: LESSONS AND BLESSINGS.

in OCD2 years ago

Wow! How time flies. Feels like yesterday but it's already more than 5 years in my journey into Blockchain Blogging.

Hello everyone, today, in line with celebrating my 5years blogging anniversary, I'll be sharing my memorable moments, the things I've learnt, the mistakes and I hope you can learn a thing or two from them.

Just like yesterday, I can vividly remember my friend talking about a Blockchain Blogging platform called Steemit and I waved it off because I wasn't interested. Two weeks later, I met another friend that also mentioned the same platform to me but this time, I understood how he was make quite some cool money from it. Yeah you guess right, immediately I heard it gives money, I quickly jumped in.

With no guide, I started blogging; my first post was a disaster, lol. Little by little, I started understanding how the platform works and after meeting some really great people, I knew that this was not Just about money but connecting with a community with diverse talent.

That led me to start a series back then called the interview where I had the chance to have a one-on-one conversation with some of the great minds here people like, @soldier ( a founding member of Appics), our very own @papa-pepper, @overkillcoin, @paradise-found, @azizbd, @jaynie, @tecnosgirl, @xtrodinarypilot, @bambam808. Here's the link to one of the Interview
INTERVIEW

I feel nostalgic just writing about this those early days were really exciting for me. I'd wake up early in the morning just to make sure that I can use the school wifi when the connection is still strong to post my article and I'd go back at night to reply the comments and also read up other interesting articles. So what happened? Why did I loose interest at some point?

First of all, we are all humans and we're not always on our 100% everyday. Then my academic schedules back then became tight coupled with some life struggles ( which I don't think it's necessary to share ) made me loose my passion for writing. I tried picking it up at different point in time, sometimes I post once in three months, once in six months but it wasn't as it was before and it seems that it kinda happened to most people although not in same degree.

After a long while, I was introduced to Hive by my very good friend @mammasitta. I felt revitalized, started afresh and writing on different niche (making the same mistake I did in my early days steemit) but I learnt quickly and corrected myself. Even at that, I Just couldn't keep the fire burning for long especially considering the fact that I withdrew all my profit to meet my daily needs so I was low on hive power. I could barely make a post or even comment and it was fustrating but hey! Life is full of ups and downs right?

This is basically a summary of my 5 years experience. If I'm to go in details, it would be too lengthy and I obviously must have forgotten some details. Quickly I'd dive down to the Blessings and Lessons I've gotten from this platform.

BLESSINGS.

  • I got to learn a new skill which is writing, and by writing I mean; being able to write articles. I know I'm not perfect or would I say I'm a bit rusty now but, it's a skill that I have and all I need to do is to sharpen it.

  • I already mentioned this but I will mention it again, I got to meet amazing people some of whom I've already mentioned. Building connection with this amazing people is a huge blessing to me. Reading their articles, seeing their pictures... these are memories I won't trade for anything.

  • Of course I would be lying if this blessing doesn't make the list and that's profit or better put financial blessing. There were a lot of things I was able to do financially because of my earnings here and I'm grateful for that.

  • And lastly, for the sake of this article would be the fact that blogging here, I was able to enter the world of web blockchain and cryptocurrency.

LESSONS:

  • My first lesson is that you must create an identity for yourself if you want to excel in any sphere of life. I made this mistake but I later corrected it.

  • You must have heard this less than 1,000 times I guess this makes it 1001 and that is; consistency is the key. Sometimes I wonder how far and how well I would be doing if I had continue writing daily as I used to but hey there's no need living in the past or living in regrets. Life goes on... we just have to get better.

  • Learn to reach out. There were times where I had to start blogging again just because I reach out to my friend @mammasitta who encouraged me and even help me promote my articles.

  • This is very important and I will say this was my Achilles heel which is; interact with the community. Even when I returned and I started blogging again, I lost the passion of interacting will community. I lost the passion of Reading other articles, checking other blogs and stuff like that. And that was one of the major reasons I think I found it difficult to have a sure footing back here.

Well, I will draw the curtain here would I continue to blog? that I can't promise you. Let's see if this article does well and with your responses I will make my next decision. So till next time; stay alive and don't give up. Love you.❤️

Happy Blockchain Anniversary @jemimah glad I could contribute to your blockchain journey

Looks like you know what to do in the future, you summed it up well. I also celebrated 5 years in January this year. Maybe I should write about it. Anyway, good luck.

Another thing if I'm here. Things have changed a bit on Hive and since you haven't been consistent, let me drop you a few suggestions to help you in your journey, in case you decide to start blogging regularly.

OCD community is for topics that don't fit in any other community and should be used when you don't find a niche community for your post.

Here's a guide I put together to help you learn about how communities work and why you should use them -> Communities Explained - Newbie Guide. I also put together a list of communities, which is not complete, there are much more communities on Hive, but it will help you get started.

Once you posted your post in the right community, you can then cross post it to OCD community. Here's a guide about cross posting.

Please don't delete any post with the purpose of reposting it in another community as that can be considered abuse.

Thank you very much for this. I'll definitely look at those guides.

That’s so amazing to catch this post and a part of your journey! I always wish you best
Don’t give up and meet @jnmarteau We got some ideas for You!

You've been an amazing friend. Thank you. I'll check out your ideas out.
