My name is Adeleke Julius,I hail from Odeomu in Osun State,Nigeria. I reside in Oshogbo, Osun state. I am the second and first male in the family of five. I attended Rock Eternal Model Primary school, from where I proceeded to Secondary School,Unity School Ejigbo, which happen to be one of the best boarding Secondary School in the State.

Gaining admission into the University was not smiling at all, from the onset I wish to become a Medical Laboratory Practitioners but as God have it I was not given due to the course cut off mark,so I was given a second choice which is Agricultural Science,Animal Production and Health to be precise.

Firstly, I was not happy with the course, I was even thinking of differing the course and take another entrance exam the following year. But thank God for my parents for there word of encouragement by shedding more light about the course, they are able to convince me that being an Agriculturist is one of the best thing in Life, that being Professional alone is enough,no more looking out for all this white collar job since you can established yourself and be earning your money. Been in the feed,we do stock 4weeks old birds(Broiler) at least 10-15 every Esther and Christmas period.

Doing this every year made me to began having interest in rearing birds though its not many but at least its something worth doing and of course it gives me joy seeing them developing everyday .

Getting to finalist was one of the best experience for me in poultry aspect because in my faculty,we have six department thereby receiving lectures together till we reach a year to finalist,so after 400L every one can now be in their separate department according to their courses. So I was been given a supervisor (Dr.Shittu Daniel) a teacher and at the same time a father not just any Lecturer. His major aspect was on poultry, rabbitory, snailry and guinea pig. so we were been introduced and at the same divided into groups, under my supervisor, we were grouped into Four(4) and thankfully I was in poultry group, I was so happy and anxious to be on the field. We were six in our group and I happen to be the group leader, being the group leader I was given more task to do but at the same time I was happy being the leader of the group because I know it will brought me more closer to our supervisor to gain more knowledge.

I was my supervisor right hand man (PA),so being by supervisor PA I gained so many things.
We welcome our chicks(155 birds) to be precise, but before we received our chicks we were asked to go and see the pen to be used and checked for all necessary amendment and the likes before their arrival. On getting to the pen, there are bush everywhere so we first clear away the bush and any trash that may have accumulated around the brooder house, we also examine the leaks in the roof, gaps in the floor, and rat holes and fix them, also we set out traps for rodents, build a brooder ,draft guard ,baby chick feeders and baby chick waterers and also by introducing new litters, charcoal pot, wood shavings (moisture absorber).

Immediately the chicks arrived we started brooding. Brooding refers to the period immediately after hatch when special care and attention must be given to chicks to ensure their health and survival. Brooding can be classified into natural and artificial brooding. Natural brooding is done with the help of broody hens after hatching up to 3-4weeks of age while in artificial we brood large numbers of baby chicks in the absence of broody hen.

The main objective in brooding chicks is to efficiently and economically provide a comfortable, healthy environment for growing birds. Temperature, air quality, humidity and light are critical factors to considered. Failure to provide the adequate environment during the brooding period will reduce profitability, resulting in reduced growth and development, poorer feed conversion, and increased disease, condemnation and mortality.

The 4weeks of our brooding was not easy because we are always at alert no time for sleeping, sometimes we wake up at the middle of the night banging the canopy to make sure they are active and also went in to see how they are doing,we also check their charcoal pot whether to put more or to remove. we also checked their feeders and drinkers by removing litters and wood shavings in them. we keep on monitoring them day by day by given them their feed (starter mash) and also replacing their glucose water as at when due.

Thank God for the cooperation of my fellow group members ,we were able to carried out the project successfully without recording much mortality (5%).At least 5% mortality out of 155 birds is still normal. So after the 4th week of brooding we were able to divide ourselves into two group I.e morning and evening so as to be able to attend to school activities and personal life,so some sets will come in the morning to feed and do the necessary while the second group comes in the evening to do the same till they reach table size.

Right from time I did not know or heard anything about this platform even though I knew about others long time ago but I didn't get involved or deal with it as a result of that i don't have any information on how it works. Until resent I met @innovator05 who has in -depth knowledge.

It was through him I got to know this platform. But considering the hivians ecosystem with a lot of applications, communities, and the project behind it,this platform has enough space to accommodate everybody as long as you are interested, one will definitely fit into.
Part of knowledge it is a platform where opinion can be expressed without fear or intimation from anybody. Thanks.

Thanks to the hivians and really love to explore the more thank you once again.
