Depression

There are a lot of sickness and diseases that affects our bodies today. There are diseases of the body and of the mind. Depression is a sickness that affects the mind. It is okay to feel down once in a while especially when something goes wrong. Depression is different from grief or bereavment. Depression causes feeling of worthlessness, lack of interest and sadness. It a serious issue because over 5% of the world's population is depressed. It cuts a across children, tenagers and adults.

Symptoms of depression include prolonged sadness, loss of self worth, lack of interest in activites and life generally which is what generally leads to suicide, insomina, too much sleeping and so on.

Causes of depression

We live in an era where social media is King. When we go online, we see a lot of things. Thing we wish we had but we dont, who we wish we were, how we want to look.

  • Pressure. Pressure is a leading cause of an anxiety. We need to learn to manage it. Pressure from family, from friends, social media even yourself. This intense desire to be like or compete something or somebody else
  • Lack of self worth. people base their worth from what they see or hear from social media, the perfect body to have and so on.
  • Circumstances. A lot happens everyday around us. it could be the loss of a loved one, losing a job or even failure.

How to cope or avoid depression

If yours is severe and you are already contemplating suicide please get help. At that point you need someone else to help you.

  • Think on the good things. whatsoever things are good, whatsoever things are lovely think of those things. Not on the failures, loss, fustration. For one if you are reading this then you are alive, that's good. Some are healthy too. Always remember the good thing in your life and think on them.
  • Build yourself worth. Dont base it on eternal things, build it from your inside. Love and appreciate yourself
  • Reduce social media or instead of the glamour, focus on successful stories of men and how to build yourself. You will see your failures are only the beginning
  • Be positive. Dont be negative, critic or a sadist. Know that bad events will come but always talk to yourself positively.
