On hive everyone can run a witness node/ block verifier. currently over 100 nods running.
Everyone can run a API node. So everyone can create a social media frontend that reads the data from the chain.
Front ends (social media apps) are competing for users because everyone can access the data. Some of them are showing all you do, like

Some are only showing specific topics.
travelfeed shows only my post about travel,
leofinance shows only posts about crypto and finance,
cine tv shows posts about movies and tv shows,
3speak shows videos
and there are many more niche frontends and other apps like splinterlands or rabona, games that use the data to connect your account info to the game, NFTShowroom is an app for buying and selling art.
Some of the apps are open source, so if you want you can make an app that only shows your content, or what ever you chose to. And by owning the Keys to the account, you are owning your account not renting it from some centralized social network.
Is Sergey not aware of Hive? Because his description of social network is, well, description of Hive network.
