When you look at this picture, you can see this is the most South West provence of Holland called Zeeland. In the distance you can see the Northsee, and between the waterways there are bridges (seen on the most right waterway) which are able to close off the water when high tide reaches. In 1953 this region had flooded tremendously, and because of that the 'Stormvloedkering' was built.
A spectular part of Dutch engineering which I have never really seen in real life (shame on me), but I was able to see them from an airplane. Isn't that kind of weird? That something which is so close to your place, you have never seen it in real life?
I was talking about this earlier in the week with some other people as well. The most touristy places in Holland, honestly I think I have never even been there, while others fly over the whole world to reach here. The 'Keukenhof' is a good example of this. That is a flower exposition with mostly tulips in there in all sorts of colors. I remember I have visited it once when I was a kid, and I remember it was big and a lot of walking. But the actual colors...I guess it didn't impress me enough.
But also when living in Switzerland I was always on the road there trying to find new regions and new mountaind and visit places I had never been to. My colleagues always used to call me the explorer, because I was going to places they had never visited.
And now....I am the same one. The highlights of Holland, I should make a hotlist from it.

I was hanging with a friend a while back and we were talking about vacation and where to go to now she has a kid. And while they have travelled the whole world to the biggest trips and high pace exploring, they had hardly been in Europe and visited the easy, obvious countries here around the Mediterranean.
Europe is so big and so diverse honestly. There is so much to explore and so many languages and cultures to be found that you already need a lifetime for this. But we want to see extreme stuff, and go far. While closeby there is so much to see.
Is that why people also why people fall into the dating trap for years, to eventually end up with one of the persons they have known half of their life? We like the think far, but maybe we should keep it close as well.
Hehe nice picture you can see my house on it😅
