Do you know that Nigeria has the highest population of twins in the world?
Like I mentioned in my introduction post, I am a twin, my second is a guy too. People say we are identical, but I disagree. Of only you would look and observe carefully, you will see the difference. I await your verdict on whether it's easy to differentiate us or not.
The traditional name given to twins in the Yoruba culture in Nigeria is Taiwo and Kehinde. Taiwo means first to be born, Kehinde means second (of twins). Since young age till now, our lives have been filled with fun, pleasurable and unpleasurable moments. But we do live it together. Most of our teachers in school never recognized us, so sometimes what is meant for one is often given to the other. (Let me explain).
Although we are twins, our behavior is not exactly the same. My twin can sometimes be mischievous. Most times I was punished for what I didn't do,I don't even ask questions again. Once they tell me I'm about to be punished, I knew twinnie had been mischievous again.
However as we grew he let go of his mischief (thanks to me, of course). A funny experience happened a year ago. We did not get admission in the same school, so he had to school on another state. I decided to visit him one day, while walking to his hostel I walked passed a lady. The lady called my twin name(she thought it was him) and started saying how he had grown wings by passing her without saying hi.
"If our relationship ended that does not mean we should be rude to each other on the road, does it". She said. Then I realized that she had been served hot breakfast by my brother (Nigerian slang for ending a relationship). I played along and said I was in a hurry and didn't see her. Then we talked a little about classes and stuffs. How she did not suspect baffles me. I mean even if we look so alike, something must have felt different?
There were other days too when I would receive praises and credit alerts meant for him. That is my rewards for what he put me through when we were young, don't look at me like that.
We go around in the same clothes, shoes, hairstyle and so on. It was a great life, which I wouldn't have exchanged for anything.
There is certainly much to say, but I sure can't relate all my life experiences in a blog article. Twins are cute, but those that desire to have them don't. Such is life, unexplainable. Here is my doppelganger albeit in the same world.
Thanks for reading.
Guess who I am in any picture and you might win a gift.
Wow this is beautiful I think people are right about you guys looking identical 😅
