Mornin' Hive!

Hope you all had an awesome weekend and the weather is looking great wherever you are :). Hopefully we can soon begin to enjoy some sunshine here in Detroit as well, it's funny that it's almost mid May, but the weather is still terrible here, to be honest, I don't think this place even has spring as a season, I miss spring and all the blooms it brings throughout the months.

But anyway ;)

A friend of mine shared some sourdough starter with me about a month ago or so, and let me tell you, baking bread was a lot of fun. Perhaps, you guys know about all the flour shortages, I was lucky enough to have 2 bags of flour that I bought way before the quarantine started, and they served me well, I was able to bake two loafs of sourdough bread and what you see in the photos is my second try. Honestly, I was so proud of it once I pulled it out of the oven, I almost jumped with excitement haha :D.
Sadly, I wasn't able to make any more bread because I am extremely low on flour and haven't seen any at the supermarket since March. There is just no way that people aren't trying to hoard it, and it sucks for the rest of us.

And now the moment of truth . . . BEHOLD! That crumb is perfect!

My boule turned out delicious, and just looking at these pictures makes me never wanna buy bread from the store again haha, which I do very rarely anyways.

I am still super new to wild yeast baking, so fingers crossed, y'all don't have any questions because chances are I won't be able to give you an answer haha, however, I will share the recipe I used to make this boule, it's called Sourdough Bread.

Get baking and have fun :)

Owhh I wanna taste that bread, looking so good!

I had to laugh very hard, the recipe says that you will need a "Dutch oven" but the 100% Dutch woman that I am doesn't even know what kind of oven that is😂

Thanks, lady! It was super delicious, I couldn't believe I made it haha. A Dutch oven is basically a heavy cast iron pot, not sure why they call it Dutch over here though hahaha. According to Wikipedia, they go by the name of braadpan in Netherlands :D

Haha that's so cool! I have never made bread in my life but if you can do it, maybe I can do it as well:D Ooooh a braadpan! I don't know what I would do without google...

Absolutely! It's a bit time consuming, but we don't have much to do being confined to our houses right now anyway haha. Did you have to google braadpan? hahaha

Hahah no, I know what a braadpan is, but I already had googled Dutch oven😜

Oh hahaha, I was like that must be an old word if she had to look it up haha

Oh wow! That looks good!
So weird though about the flour. I noticed there are waves of missing products in the shops around here. Sometimes it's eggs, sometimes frozen pizzas :p

Frozen pizza?! Hahaha! Luckily, we were able to buy eggs and milk, some of products are limited per person so that was helpful, I guess they were just not getting any flour as of lately, who knows haha

Thank you!

Hah yea :D I think some people are not used to stay at home so much and cook every meal.

Maybe! I'm just not a pizza fan in general, let alone a freezer one haha

Good pictures. This bread look so good

No Questions???

Well as usual you nailed the photography. About your bread. It looks delicious and makes me want to dive into the kitchen as well to try it.

Sorry haha! I've only baked two sourdough loaves so far, and couldn't be a good source of information since I'm trying to learn the ways myself. Right now it's super hard to find good quality flour in the stores, so I didn't get to bake more bread, hopefully, it will change soon.

Thank you :)
