Stay home, Share 3 travel photos challenge. Many of you will know I mainly write travel posts, and when I do I always tend to go over board with my photos. This challenge is great, as it will really challenge me to choose three of my favourite photos and to focus a bit more on the rest of the content. Let's see how I manage.A few days ago, I saw @psos started a
I was going through the photos on my computer, and saw that exactly eight years ago today, I went on a walk at Compton in Surrey UK. Compton is a quaint village with around 1000 population and is about 45 minutes away from London by train. It is surrounded by a lot of woodland making it a lovely area for walks.
One of Compton's most well known resident was George Frederic Watts a British painter and sculpture from the late 19th century. After he died, his wife, who was a designed and painter herself, designed the Watt Cemetry Chapel. The chapel is described "as one of the most original and fascinating buildings in Britain, a fusion of art nouveau, Celtic, Romanesque and individual style." (https://www.wattsgallery.org.uk) If you think the outside looks remarkable, the inside is even more unique with a mix of terracotta relief carving and paintings in an art nouveau style and Celtic influences.
Because of Watts, Compton is also known as the Artist Village and would be a great day out for art lovers who can complete their walk around the village with a visit to the Watts Gallery. I hope you enjoyed the quick trip to Compton in UK.
Wow! This challenge wasn't easy. Choosing three photos was a lot more difficult than I imagined π
As some of you may know, I am part of the @pinmapple team (previously known as the Steemitworldmap on Steem) and we are on a constant look for quality travel posts on Hive. Everyday, we curate travel posts that are pinned onto Pinmapple and produce a #traveldigest to give the best travel posts more exposure on Hive. So far we have over 50k pins on the map and have curated over 8000 posts.
Users can pin their posts on Pinmapple to create your own personal travel map (just like mine below) and share that easily with friends and family. And when you zoom into the pins it will take you to your posts as well! How cool is that!
If you would like to get your travel posts onto Pimapple you can go to https://pinmapple.com/ and check out the FAQ on how to do that. It's really simple!!! π
