in OCD3 years ago

I will tell you about the Acehnese customs that are still preserved. One of them is the kenduri jeurat custom. According to some parents in Aceh, from a religious perspective, the kenduri jeurat aims to honor family members whose relatives have passed away to rahmatullah.

According to customary law, kenduri jeurat is seen as a hereditary tradition since the ancestors. Before carrying out the kenduri jeurat tradition, first a village meeting was held, this aimed to form a khanduri committee.

On the day of the feast, it is usually done to clean up together at the cemetery. After finishing, towards noon, the main event began with the reading of a letter from the holy book Al-Qur'an, then continued with a prayer led by the local village priest.

The festivities of the jeurat are sometimes also marked by the provision of donations to dozens of orphans at the grave site. Apart from being entertained with food, orphans can also bring food to take home, plus compensation in the form of donations from family members or heirs.

For cooking utensils, residents usually bring their own utensils or borrow tools adjacent to the Public Cemetery (TPU). Plus, there is a habit of slaughtering goats during khanduri. However, some residents still bring food from their respective homes for extra.

Viewed from many perspectives, this tradition is not only worth the reward but also has many positive social sides. Besides being able to gather with relatives and family, together pray for family members who have passed away. At the same time, it can establish and strengthen the relationship between Islam
