Fireworks and its beauty, bangers, the excitement and the chaos it causes, good food and family reunion, a lot of rest, carols and sweet melody, Love in the air, concerts, beach parties, you name it. All I am saying is Christmas has got to be the best holiday for Christians and that’s why you shouldn’t judge me when I say “I am already looking forward to 2022 Christmas” .
Yes!! I know it’s too early to crave another Christmas but I guess that’s how I feel, lol.
“Happy New Yearrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Babyyyyyyyy” my besties shouted over the phone
“Urgghhhh!!! Don’t tell me New year and all her expectations are here again?” I murmured
New year comes with a lot of expectations from your own self and other people and I dread all that pressure, but this year, I decided to make a change. Maybe we are always too hard on ourselves to make a huge difference in our lives on new year’s, maybe we should focus more on doing things that fulfill us, maybe we should break those big goals into smaller goals and take it one step at a time.
“Hey babies, Happy New year. I love you girls so much and I want to thank you for being the best Friends ever. We are doing this for life.” I replied my besties with a smile on my face and went on to tell them things we should do and things we shouldn’t do this year.
Let me share a few with you;
DO ONLY WHAT FULFILLS YOU AND MAKES YOU HAPPY
As much as we make Sacrifices in life that sometimes costs us our joy, let’s Love ourselves so much to choose Happiness. Last year a lot of young people went through mental health disorders and one of the reasons is that we are spending all our time doing things that do not fulfill us or make us happy.
“This year babes, let’s do things for Us while we still try to extend our hands to help others to the extent that we can.”
LET’S TAKE A BREAK FROM “SEEKING LOVE”
In recent times, “Love” has been grossly misunderstood and misgiven. We think love is having a partner to kiss and engage in sexual intercourse with. We think Love is making tiktok videos and bragging to the world that we are with a cute partner. Love Is deeper and stronger than all these. In 2021, I and my besties were all “served breakfast” (it’s a way we say HEARTBREAK in Nigeria). It took a toll on us and FYI (For your information) it had happened a lot of times.
We had opened up our hearts to the wrong men too many times and just because we wanted to join the bandwagon of Love birds, we had failed to WAIT.
“Sally, Ruby, Let the boys be! let’s focus on ourselves, the right men will come”
LET’S HARNESS THE QUALITY VERSION OF OURSELVES
“Lol what do you mean quality version of ourselves” Ruby asked from the other end of the phone after she had chuckled
You know, we wake up every day and continue with mediocre life.
At what point do we Upgrade?
Apart from Making money, what else? If you lose all your money today, who are you?
Let’s Take a new course
Learn a new skill or brush up an already existing skill
Learn a New Language
Get more involved in Society
Come up with non-profit Support groups that will help people who are trying to heal
Let’s upgrade the way we dress, speak and act
Let’s work on our emotions
Let’s set bigger goals and look towards achieving them
Let our businesses be a solution to a problem
Let’s learn how to eat with Cutleries if we didn’t know it
Let’s change our Mindset towards Success
Let’s Network and make good Connections
Let’s Do one thing every day that scares us.
The list goes on and on but I think at this point you understand what I mean by “Quality Version of ourselves”
I will close this by saying “Remember you have no limit except the one you impose on yourself”
There is room for More, let’s do better of the things that makes us happy and fulfill us.
