Take me back from the past - my hometown

in OCD4 years ago

After a week of silence and several reminders and thinking of millions of things that I need to do and accomplish, I came back with writing here in Hive.

Today I had an errand to do in the morning and that is doing my laundry, but the rest of my day was free. So I am thinking of a place where I can spend my entire afternoon. So it came to my mind of going back to the mountain where our old house was located. It was an upland area and with lower temperature compared to the location of our new house. I drove out using my motorcycle. It was about 30 to 45 minutes drive from our new place. Not that quite far. And because of my daily working schedules, I can only visit there twice or less per year. Today was a lucky day. I have my entire afternoon to spend there. I can say that as a grown-up I am now quite a different sort of individual as I used to be in there. Once a normal individual with nothing but full of dreams and hope that one day will reach the pinnacle.

The place changed a lot also. More small houses were built near the neighborhood. Increasing population I guess.

The source of income of locals there was Farming. I used to be a farmer. I’m very proud of that. We grow our own crops and vegetables and by the time it’s ready to harvest, we will sell it to the market. Back then we were not rich but we're not starving. Up till now, I can’t say we’re rich coz we’re not. Looking back during our Elementary years, our dad would wake us up to help harvest our crop, and at 7 o'clock in the morning, we need to get ready for school. My dad grows different types of vegetables like cabbage, carrots, petchay, and more. We don’t have water inside the house. A free-flowing source of water was accessible for the entire residents of the barangay free of charge. Part of our household chores was to fetch water using plastic containers for daily use. We used wood for cooking our food.

I miss living there, the people, the place, the environment. All of them I missed. I miss the blustery afternoon during our siesta time, the usual thing we did when we were a kid. Back then we don’t have gadgets and the internet.

The area is very large to see and there are many hills in front and behind the house. In here you will hear birds chirping. The noise of the chirping birds was like music to my ears and the sweetness felt when the wind whispers and as if kissing my face.

For large parts of that afternoon, I made it feel as if I am back at my old me. Without all those memories I am not what I am today. For half of my entire life, I lived there.

That’s all for today and have a nice day everyone
