Birthday care

in OCD2 years ago (edited)

Hello friends! It's been a while.. Life got a bit busy.

So this week was my eldest sister's birthday. She has been going through a very difficult time and felt like her birthday is just in the way.
We, as a family, deem birthdays quite important as it is a celebration of life and a time to be together.

She was home alone, as her husband was away for work, and we thought that just would not do. We spoke to her finding out what she wanted to do, which was nothing, yet we convinced her to go out for a family dinner.

My middle sister and I decided to surprise her and make her feel extra special by buying her some balloons. (I believe balloons make any situation better!) 😉

The balloons we made up for her, her present was in the basket

When we walked into the restaurant she just blushed and smiled. She said it was embarrassing but despite that, she loved it! Other than the balloons to make it special, we gave her original perfume, since she mainly uses knock-offs due to the extreme price of perfume in RSA. She was ecstatic and so incredibly grateful!

In the end, after great pizza and 2 bottles of wine, we had a great night and she enjoyed her birthday to the fullest!

She can never be normal

I love my sister so much and seeing her happy made me feel like all the efforts are worth it!
Letting the people in your life know you love them is one of the most important things you can do.

Until next time!

Hello @michieme. First of all, happy birthday to the birthday girl! It's an event that ha to be celebrated each year.

I see you're new on Hive, so let me drop you a few suggestions to help you navigate better on our platform.

We have different communities on Hive and we're encouraging users to post in the right community based on the topic of the post. This post for example would fit better in Family & Friends or Daily Blog community.

OCD is for topics that don't fit in any other community and should be used when you don't find a niche community for your post.

Here's a guide I put together to help you learn about how communities work and why you should use them -> Communities Explained - Newbie Guide.

Once you posted your post in the right community, you can then cross post it to OCD community. Here's a guide about cross posting.

Please don't delete any post with the purpose of reposting it in another community as that can be considered abuse! Leave this post here, you'll get it right next time.

Good luck, happy blogging and let me know if you need more help :)

Thank you so much! Appreciate the help. I looked at communities and didn't come across one to fit, clearly I didn't look hard enough.

You're welcome!

Great advice, @erikah 😀 Wish I'd have someone like you helping me when I was new (although I'm still relatively new, and learning more every day !)

@michieme - something else you'll find is that the more active you are, the more of a community you'll gather around yourself. The first thing I tend to do each day when I log on is go to new posts, select "My Community" and upvote a bunch of those. It's a kind of mutual support thing, and grows over time.

Also, if I ever get to visit South Africa, I'll have to remember to bring some original perfume with me as gifts.....

Thank you! :)
