Last week I put a poll on my Instagram.. I was not sure if I should paint this or another flower picture. This was rough.. as a painting it might look better on oil. Wasn't confident it would be good in watercolor.
Reference
There was no light in the picture.. it was dull and too green which was the difficult part.
I made the sketch of the building.. and tlmade the colours a little more warmer while painting.
Finally thought of adding a soft light just to make it less flat.
I think the trees on left hasn't come up well.. it wasn't planned to be in light earlier. Was a struggle to bring it up.

Was this a painting you created on location or did you paint from a photo in front of you? Do you take either approach at times? I can imagine it to be a fantastic thing to do, nice summer's day, the landscape before you and taking the first stroke on the canvas.
Hi
This painting was created from a photo. I have posted the reference picture in the post .. normally I paint from photos. It is easier that way that you have the luxury of having it in front of you with the shadows unmoved.
I have painted very few from location. Like my post last week. It is very difficult to see the shadows as in a photo and also the light changes fast and so does the shadow directions.
Painting from location also have other problems like insects rain heat and sweat to beat 😁
Great work! Nicely done!
Thank you 😊
This is a good execution of landscape colors. I like the background and how spectacular it looks, also how well it blends with the building surrounded by nature.
Thank you so much .. Green background is often a headache to paint 😁
