It's a big first for Japan's most famous sextuplet band: Osomatsu-san , the latest animated adaptation of the famous Osomatsu-kun manga , will go from the small to the big screen with a feature film in the shoot real.
While Osomatsu-san has already declined in many other formats, including theater and musicals, this is the first time that the awkward siblings will find themselves embodied in the cinema by actors in the flesh.
The siblings go live-action
This co-production between Cinebazar, Hachinoji and the distribution house TOHO called on one of the most popular boy bands of the moment to play the many members of the Osomatsu-san family. Thus, the nine members of the group Snow Man Hikaru Iwamoto, Tatsuya Fukazawa; Murakami Maito Raul, Shota Watanabe, Koji Mukai, Ryohei Abe, Ren Meguro, Ryota Miyadate, Daisuke Sakuma, represented by the tarento agency Johnny & Associates, will perform both the sextuplets but also 3 new original characters specially created for the movie.
We will find Tsutomu Hanabusa in the production. The latter is no stranger to live-action anime adaptations: the Japanese filmmaker has already worked behind the camera for the films Tokyo Revengers, Grand Blue and 3D Kanojo Real Girl. The film is due out in spring 2022 in Japan.
A cult work
Fujio Akatsuka's manga Osomatsu-kun , published from 1962 to 1969, followed the misadventures of the Matsuno family and the siblings of six boisterous and physically identical boys. Osomatsu-kun went through two homonymous animated adaptations in 1966 and 1988.
A real phenomenon in Japan, the Osomatsu-San anime from the Pierrot studio re-adapts the famous Osomatsu-kun manga into a more modern context. This recent adaptation reinterprets the original work and transposes the action to the present day. The sextuplets have thus grown considerably during the half-century that separates it from their first appearance. The group of teenagers has nevertheless lost none of its impertinence and continues to make the four hundred blows. Osomatsu-san thus had three seasons broadcast from 2015 to 2021 on Japanese airwaves. In France, all three seasons of the anime are available on the Crunchyroll streaming service.
