You need a break from the monotony.
Now more than ever we are struggling to pass the time. In a lot of countries we are locked down due to the Corona virus and bar essential trips and exercise can't travel very far.
Some countries are still open and some are being far stricter than this. The four walls of our house have become our prison and while I am fortunate enough to have my own space and a garden out the back I can only feel sorry for those trapped inside their tiny apartments or with kids to be entertained.

By now we all need a break.
By now we all need a break.
Every day blends into the next like a never ending winter. Every day feels the same and every morning starts the same way. I've forgotten what the weekend feels like never mind what I would do with one if the country was opened again.
Eat, sleep, wake, repeat.
I think that it's the not knowing that makes it tougher. Not having an end point to look forward to only more uncertainty and waiting. We were meant to restart a lot of the country on the 5th of May but that was pushed back until the 18th. There is a planned structure in place going forward that will take the best part of 2 months to get everything back on track but even that is only a guide. It depends on how everything responds as we move through the stages.
I don't know how the rest of the plan will go but I do know that we won't be going back to this. Once those gates are opened on the 18th the will be staying that way. We have done our part and I will stick with the recommendations from the government for the most part but only as they move forward. There will be no going backwards from here and I believe that a lot of the people would be with me on this one.
We will stay smart as the country finds it feet again and try to maintain as much safety as possible but life cannot pause indefinitely. At that rate it wouldn't be worth living if there is nothing worth living for. There is no cure at the moment and might not be in the near future so are we really going to spend the next couple of years in fear of hugging our family or going for a drink with friends?
A change is enough for now.
A change is enough for now.
Until we hit that point of being back to normal and being able to enjoy life again, I find it's the little things that I miss the most. Not anything expensive or wild but just visiting friends and family. Going to a match and being able to head outside for no reason. Hop into the car and just go.
That first step of breaking the monotony and doing something that we used to take for granted. Hopping into the car and driving down to my parents for the evening and having a BBQ. Going to the pub to meet my friends for pints and a good chat.

Coming out of work on a Friday evening excited for the plans ahead. Knowing that you will be going to a match or a concert of a party. I don't know about the rest of you but those small things will be better than a week abroad after so long. Something to look forward to and get excited about. Something to change the mood and make the time go quicker. Even this week has gone by at double time as I have something nice set up for the weekend.
It is the not knowing which really makes it tough but the little things that make it pass.
Hang strong and enjoy. life is lived in the mind and heart.
We'll get there but it has gotten draining at this stage. Could really do with a change of scenery.
Remember it is all in the mind. We dont see with these eyes, or hear with these ears. At least not the way we think we do. be strong my friend and really try to take advantage of your time and enjoy it. make the most brother @niallon11
I loved being home not working! I had time to work on myself, workout and read! It was amazing! :D
I ended up reflecting a lot about my current life and what I have to change in order to by happy all the time :D
I also dont have any interest in going to town drinking :p
Glad your enjoying it so much. 😂
Some people have made great use of the time to pick up new skills and plan for the future so well done on that part. I am currently working on an area for the garden to keep myself busy which is a help.
Unfortunately a lot of our social lives revolve around drinking so without a nice creamy pint of Guinness it does all seem a bit hopeless right now. Soon though. I can almost taste it. 😀
Thanks thanks! But I haven't been in lockdown the past 2 weeks, our store opened up more, so I got called back, but I had 5 weeks of lockdown at home :p
I am from Denmark, so yes the drinking culture here is similar to the Irelands one :p
The uncertainty about how long it's all going to take to get back to 'normal' (which might not even be the normal we knew before) is what's going to be the biggest problem. People can handle this, but they can't handle it if they don't know when it will end. I'm worried for this autumn and winter actually.
Take care, enjoy the small things, and be in touch with people you care about as much as possible <3
I agree with you on this one. Even if we were told it would be Xmas before there was a vaccine and we would all be safe at least we could write off this year and plan for the next one.
It's the not knowing what lies around the corner that is making it seem worse.
I agree on the little things buddy. Just getting a bite or a drink with some friends seems like a thing of the past.
Looking forward to thing getting somewhat back to normal!
Feels so strange not to be able to head away for the weekend to my friends house and have a bit of fun. Zoom is grand but doesn't have the same effect as meeting people in real life.
I know it's only temporary and we will get past all of this but I used to have a very active life usually between playing sport and going on trips. I'm not built for all of this hanging around the place.
It will be great just to have plans for doing something. Knowing that you have somewhere to go and looking forward to it.
I couldn't agree more.
What works for me is staying productive, and working out at home 🙂
Keeps me sane! haha
