Can't agree on this completely since we couldn't expect centralized exchanges to actually use customer funds to support their friend. Dpos actually showed to be more resistant if compared to other mechanisms. POW can easily be centralized and there is almost no response to it.
But i so agree that new protocols and security measures must be implemented
