When was the last time you had a good laugh? I mean you really laughed loud and deep…

“Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence.”- Greek philosopher Aristotle
Thinking about the world today, our personal struggles day after day, societal crisis, global crisis, etc, we are face with a great danger. The danger is establishing our happiness and by extension, health on what happens to us. Of a truth, we are not guaranteed of pleasant circumstances that will automatically bring a happiness to our hearts. This is the reason we must learn to be happy not minding what is happening around us.

I once read about how we have no control over what happens to us, but that we have absolute control how we respond to what happens to us. Sometimes, life gives us no reason to be happy. Those times feel like mental (physical) rocks are being thrown at us from every corner. Everything is crashing down on us, all at the same fr**king time. It seems like a great time and excuse to wallow in self-pity, be sad, beat ourselves up, find a few people to transfer the pain and hurt to by yelling at or hurting them. However, this is the exact time I want us to find our happiness from within. “Funmi, you can’t be serious! Where do I get the said ‘happiness’ from at this point?”

Have you noticed how the day goes dark for a number of hours but every day, it is as certain as the oxygen in our nostrils that light will shine again? What if we chose to approach the not-so-bright times in our lives with this mindset? We can be certain that as long as we go through our dark times without giving up, the light will shine again. Now, if we have this hope in our hearts, we have a reason to be happy through our storms. And soon, we will sing alongside R Kelly’s chorus “The storm is over”.

I don’t have an idea what your situation looks like right now but I’m certain a good round of laughter will do your heart, soul and body great good. I dare you to laugh!

P.S. I had hit rock bottom in my food business when that picture was taken by my friend. You also can find a reason to LOL.
