In my first article, I wrote about how I'm on a journey to discover myths and facts about core matters in our day-to-day lives. Here's what I discovered just yesterday on my way back from my place of worship: We all have a belief system. No, I don't mean religion, I mean belief system.
As humans, we can't see beyond our natural senses, so we depend on our belief system for literally every step we take. We wake up in the morning not knowing if we still have our vision, but we open our eyes anyway and tada!, we can see. This exact scenario plays in every of our activities as we go through life.
One thing religion does is hand us a pre-established belief systems to bring hope and peace to mankind. At the core of these systems is LOVE: Love for the object of our devotion, love for people who are devoted to the same, love for ourselves as individuals... It's all love from whatever angle you choose to look at it. We also believe there are rewards (mostly intangible) attached to adhering to these belief systems.
What if we choose as individuals, to include love for each other in our personal belief systems? More than what was handed to us, we choose beyond our natural senses, to care for one another genuinely knowing that the reward for doing so is tangible as well as intangible. Just what if?
I would love to hear your thoughts, please like, comment, upvote and follow me. Big "thank you" to everyone who liked, commented, upvoted and followed me from my first article. I do not take it for granted. Till next time, I remain Funmi. Ciao!
