My Journey Home

in OCD3 years ago

A journey that started early in the morning at 6:00am before the sunrise 🌄, I had postponed, planned and prepared for this journey to my hometown and finally the day came which I was to travel. Took my packed bag along be it’s my acoustic guitar 🎸(yeah I play guitar too) , got to the park had different bargains of price and bus specifications, I finally boarded a Toyota Siena van after little time we took off on a journey of approximately 10-12 hrs to Abuja from Uyo, all 7 passengers including the driver were set to a cool start.

To be honest I would have gotten to the park earlier than when I did, I got there when I did and that was a lol string pulled on me cause the journey started with a dull note, why? The driver wasn’t friendly at all and the vehicle was constantly stopped at points to be checked by the driver, vulcanizer and then an auto mechanic 👨‍🔧 on the highway we spent about 15mins there ; I had a cannabis session alongside a groundnut chew.

After we entered a long distance of bad road (really terrible, one of the troubles living in Nigeria), trying to catch up with time the driver maneuvered and speed driving like a Fast and Furious driver. Things got interesting as the mood lightened while watching the famous Sylvester Stallone movie “Rambo” as we watched this movie many reminisced about their previous viewing this movie.

Traveling 12• NE at an average speed of 70km/hr, we seem to be in good course in our journey we had a stopover to get something to eat as lunch- when we got there I had no appetite to eat so I just bought a bowl of orange for those at home then got snacks as and drink for myself yep, cool awn!!!
Journey continued and by now we got to half of the journey already. Heading 16• NW we changed course towards kogi state my final destination tho going through long distance of bushes and huts 🛖 I thought to myself how do this people live here everyday without electricity or whatever? I guess it is what it is they already used to it.
Entering kogi state we passed through various hills and the Famous River Nigeria

My excitement got lit as I thought to myself “you are almost home” I mean it’s just a few minutes before I get home and I couldn’t just wait for real to see my friends and family.
Inside the bus was filled with laughter and as the driver stopped for gas ⛽️ I quickly took the opportunity to take a ‘sunset over the hill’ picture .

After approximately 10 hours I got to my destination, whew 😥 a lot of stress in my system , but thank god I’m home now. 😃

This has been the journey from Uyo to Lokoja.
