We hear a lot about snow and I invite your soul to our hot beach today!
This is the Strand beach that was named Mostert's Bay in 1714 and I have included some information on the beach at the end of this post. Very interesting as there was a large dynamite factory close by.
Strand beach is in the Western Cape Province of South Africa.
We live close to a few beaches that are a sheer pleasure out of the holiday seasons if you like long walks and listening to the ocean. For those that like to party, there are many pubs, restaurants and clubs in the area.
For families there are an abundance of entertainment and outings for all ages.
Let's have a look at our beach walk!
These photos are about some of the life at the beach, as we are now close to the ending of the holiday season and the people that you see have elected to spend another last week here!
The little guy was pulling a barrier reef plant out of the ocean shallows.
And of course we also have to have some dog action on the beach!
Two big black Bouvier type dogs enjoying their visit to the beach!
Now watch what this little guy does!
He pulls his owner right up to the black dogs and he asks; "Hey guys, do your owners have a permit to allow you on my beach"" If not I am going to throw both of you out here"?
This guy was a bit more careful with his dogs, maybe he thought that one of the fishermen would grab the little Chihuahua for bait Lol!
Some of the last holidayers on the beach. Of course at peak time, this place looks like an ants nest, packed with people.
And that's not all folks, as I decided to warm you with some more photos!
We took a seat when I saw this as I decided to wait for Kelp Gulls to take off again.
It seemed that they would take forever sitting in the sun!
But at last, the one at the back took off!
I knew that the other one would soon follow and almost increased the camera's zoom too much when he took off.
Thankfully the shot was good and worth the wait!
I included this photo with them flying off in order to show you the areas that we like to spend our time on the beach.
Beyond the barriers is a nature conservation area that may only be visited with permits and only us and a few fishermen visit this area.
Finally, just to show you that the promenade is clean, neat and tidy and there are ample accommodation rentals along the beachfront that cater for tourists.
And That's All Folks!
Here is some more information about the Strand beach;
"Strand is a seaside resort and suburb in the City of Cape Town, in the Helderberg Region. Situated on the North-Eastern edge of False Bay, and near the foot of the Hottentots-Holland Mountains. It's geographical position is between Somerset West and Gordon's Bay, and is about 50 km southeast of Cape Town City Bowl. Strand is in the Western Cape province of South Africa, and has a population of approximately 50,000.
Strand's main attraction is the beach; 5km of white sandy beach off False Bay.
Strand was established as a holiday and fishing resort in 1714. Before being known as Strand, the settlement was known as Mostert's Bay. Strand offers white sanded beaches and views of the Cape Peninsula. During the Summer, tourists from other parts of South Africa and abroad come to enjoy the seaside offering. Tourism has been a major source of local income.
Strand also used to accommodate one of the largest dynamite factories in South Africa, owned by the AECI group. The AECI area is now being developed into a large new mixed use urban development, called Paardevlei".

Just what I needed as the temperatures drop back down to -30 Celcius!
It's been awhile since I have walked on the ocean beaches enjoying the warmth and the salt breezes. Your post took me back to those lovely summer days beach combing!
Lovely photos of the gulls! And the birds in flight well worth the wait!
Thanks for sharing!
Wow! -30C is the temps of our meat stores freezing rooms.
We had to wear special weather proof coveralls when we repaired the compressor piping inside the rooms.
Glad that I could take your thoughts out into the warmth of the beach my friend.
Stay warm.
Blessings!

What an absolutely gorgeous beach! South Africa is indeed quite beautiful. I live in a landlocked state but I've been to beaches in Florida and such.
Thank you and we are blessed with 14 miles of beaches over here.
Glad that you managed to get to some beaches!

The beach here is very nice and and must be so nice to put a mat on your white sand and lie there for a while and read a book as well. Wish to wear my two-piece bikini here and wear shades as well. So you can get your summer bag and put suntan or sunblock lotion there with other items as you ready yourself to the beach guys. The tourists will surely love this place for it's a nice place to have fun so that you will be refreshed after all the stress and problems from the routine of your work especially that theu have restaurants, pubs, and clubs as well. Must be nice to have a good time here.
Ah! Sounds like you are ready for the beach my friend.
The problem here is that the African sun is very hot and people have to protect their skins. Even sunblock doesn't help as it only lasts for a short time. But oh yes, the tourists are many and they love the place.
Blessings and thank you!
Howdy sir papilloncharity! What marvelous photos for us in this post, those flying gull shots are fantastic!
Thank you Sir @janton, the gulls are indeed neat fliers. I like the way that they cruise on the winds. Strong winds and very hot days here now, so the only birds up high are the crows. Yesterday snapped a large group of crows coming over, about 30 of them.
Blessings!
Do you carry different lenses around for different situations like high-flying birds?
No Sir @janton, I have only the one lens with different settings.
The ultra zoom is the game breaker.
Blessings!
Well that ultra zoom is truly amazing then and you use it with great skill!
Thank you and one gets used to its quirky tricks my friend.
Of course as usual after many mistakes.
Blessings!
Yes thank goodness for mistakes while practicing which leads to a higher level of skill.
