The Chief was a sullen character who caused fear in his neighbors.

El Jefe, as Domingo Hernández was known, who came from the town of Guiria, in the Sucre State of Venezuela and arrived one fine day in my city Cantaura in the 40s of the last century. He arrived as chief of police and was greatly feared for his corpulence and bad humor. He spent several years in that position and then retired, dedicating himself to living in a house with a large patio where he had many fruit trees.

And he would get very angry when someone entered his patio without permission to steal delicious mangoes or cherries, when he discovered someone he would come out with large stones and throw them at the thieves, managing to hit one of the thieves on more than one occasion. Years later he died and the family returned to Guiria and they were never heard from again. So far the story, the photos are of a wood sculpture made by the Venezuelan sculptor Luis Hernández.
