Alright! today is Saturday. Right? And if today is Saturday, we must be now in the middle of a nice weekend. Isn't it? And if we are now in a weekend, we prolly have extra free time to think, reflect and meditate. Am I wrong?

So, there you go! I suppose it is a proper time to write, publish and share the fifth installment of the "Tales With A Moral" series. Everything okay?

Oh! and by the way. If you want, you can READ here, and here, and here, and also here in the same order, all the previous installments I, II, III & IV of "Tales With A Moral" series to feed your brain entrails with pure joy. };)

So, here we go folks. That for later it is too late. :)

«-Needs and Desires-»

Eclipse

Once upon a time, there lived a King who, despite his luxurious lifestyle, was neither happy nor content. One day, the King came upon a servant who was singing happily while he worked. This fascinated the King and he began to ask himself...

Why was he, the Supreme Ruler of the Land, unhappy and gloomy, while a lowly servant had so much joy.

Then the King asked the servant:

- ¿Why are you so happy?

The man replied:

- Your Majesty, I am nothing but a servant, but my family and I don’t need too much, just a roof over our heads and warm food to fill our tummies.

The king was not satisfied with that reply. Later in the day, he sought the advice of his most trusted advisor. After hearing the King’s woes and the servant’s story, the advisor said:

- Your Majesty, I believe that the servant has not yet been made part of The 99 Club.

The King inquired:

- ¿The 99 Club? ¿And what exactly is that?

The advisor replied:

- Your Majesty, to truly know what The 99 Club is, place 99 Gold coins in a bag and leave it at this servant’s doorstep.

So the King ordered to do it. When the servant saw the bag, he took it into his house. When he opened the bag, he let out a great shout of joy. Oh! so many gold coins! He began to count them. After several counts, he was at last convinced that there were only 99 coins.

He wondered:

- ¿What could have happened to that last gold coin? Surely, no one would leave only 99 coins!?

He looked everywhere he could, but that final coin was always elusive.

Finally, exhausted, he decided that he was going to have to work harder than ever to earn that missing gold coin and complete his collection.

From that day, the servant’s life was changed. He was overworked, horribly grumpy, and too often used to castigate his own family for not helping him make that 100th gold coin. He suddenly stopped singing while he worked.

Witnessing this drastic transformation, the King was very puzzled. When he sought his advisor’s help, the advisor said:

- Your Majesty, the servant has now officially joined The 99 Club.

He continued:

- The 99 Club is a name given to those people who have enough to be happy but are never content. Because they are always yearning and striving for that extra 1 always telling to themselves:

- Let me get that one final thing and then I will be happy for life.

We can always be happy, even with very little in our lives. But at the minute we are given something bigger and better, we want even more!

Then unexpectedly, we lose our sleep. Our happiness. We tend to hurt the people around us. All these as a price for our growing needs and desires. We must learn to maintain a balance of our need and desires to truly enjoy a happy life with what we already have!!

Good story there buddy, the consumerist system is designed to make us feel lack. Through advertising etc we are squeezed into the system but our real happiness, based on quality of consciousness and source of knowledge, are removed, so that we remain stuck there. Knowledge is the ladder to lift consciousness to begin with. One rich in knowledge is wealthier than one rich in currency.

the consumerist system is designed to make us feel lack.

Yeah mate! a consumerist system not too easy to escape unscathed. Well, unless you finally reach that kinda "Nirvana" state when you are already absolutely alone to notice it and react accordingly.

Because otherwise, that same 'consumerist system' will keep bombarding their propaganda on those next to you that you love the most, which will possibly weaken your resistance to bowing to that same consumerist system just to please those you love. };)

I've found long ago that "Wealth" is just a mere mind state. :)

Hahaha, a very nice one! 99-club. Though I tend to believe I'm more the servant before he got the 99 coins, its so easy to fall into the trap to want more. Though I dont hurt others, am more someone helping others gaining more (money) to the expense of myself, I have my moments I'm not happy at all due to eg the pay I get from my employer which can always be better. That said, I know money doesnt make happy; Something I tell anybody who wants to hear, and even those who dont want to hear :) Anyway, great story; I shall remember this one and use it to try and get people to think about setting priorities in their lives.

its so easy to fall into the trap to want more.

That's right my friend. :)

And as a very old saying claim... "Richer and happier is not who have more, but who need less"

Now that is a good phrase that really sums it up. I totally relate.

@por500bolos is not only funny with his posts but also very smart :)

Haha ok, let me then paraphrase that one with another one so you have now two to relate with. };)

"Once reached a minimum threshold, is richer and happier who needs the least"

Thank you mate. :)

However, I'm sure you will find out pretty soon that just having a good sense of humor almost always makes you more and less smart. Hahahaha

Absolutely agree!

Seems like this guy fell victim to obsessive compulsive disorder more than greed, although maybe theyre the same thing who knows ;)

I have to say though the picture that you put with this story really makes me itch...

That's the idea my friend! :)

And if you also click on it, you will know fer sure what a rash really is too. LoL
