There's a Jim Rohn quote I love so much, he said "one of the easiest way of attaining success in any wheel of life is by studying and replicating what the successful people in those wheels do." - My words.
I'm tempted to add "Ta da" but it's not as easy as it sounds. Not at all, but if you're looking for a short cut, and you want to skip the roads where you have to fail severally and possibly take years to learn from your own mistakes, I'll say you take this route.
Again he added, one of the ways to closely study or learn from these people is scheduling a food date with them(my term though).
Imagine you've wanted to learn from someone for so long but they keep turning you down. Truly, they might be busy but not too busy for lunch or dinner.
Once you finally have the opportunity to sit with them on a table, it would be smart of you to order something that takes a long time to eat, so you could buy yourself time and talk for long - I said so.
Even in the midst of random chit chats, those random chits chats from a highly intellectual person can drop ideas on your laps, no kidding.
I learned this one this year and I implemented it.
A food date was set up with one of the persons of value I have been dying to meet. We got talking and half way into our plates of food, I stopped eating🤣🤣
Why?
Because if it was food that brought me out, i would have simply ordered a take out or possibly eat from the comfort of my home.
Aside from the smiles and aha moments, my head was spinning fast. I needed to know how one could steadily make millions monthly in this same country I've been shouting things are hard.
He said, "Abby things are not hard, you can't just afford them?" And he was right, everything boiled down to my point of view.
Then he added "Not having the money isn't your problem, it's the lack of ideas. You're doing well but not enough😔.
Not having money isn't the issue, the issue is not having ideas that can generate money.
By then I left my job to focus more on myself and I did (please don't leave your job, it was a very personal decision. I'll share why in my next post) it was a very hard pill to swallow.
Well you can guess, I walked out of that restaurant as a refreshed person, ready to play the game differently.
The one phrase that can never leave me is " You believe the economy is the problem but it's not the economy, it's your philosophy. You believe the economy will change but it's your philosophy that needs to change."
Ahhhh! I was literally saying "have mercy on me sir."
To be honest, we are plenty on this economy table and each year the table gets weaker because thousands of Nigerians keep climbing it.
If you keep saying there's no money, then you won't find any. I've been looking out for this same economy since I was a kid and you've seen what's up. Do.not.let.any.one.fool.you. You need to leave this particular group of the "economy will change" as fast as you can.
Instead, begin to ask yourself "what can I do to make this economy favour me?" And light will come.
It took a lot of mental unpacking for me to finally embrace the fact that there is mad money in this country. Oh! There is. You just haven't walked down that road yet.
Infact, there's money everywhere. The only issue is that we ain't leveraging well or leveraging at all.
I love ease, I can't lie. I'm a 100% anti stress person but a lot of times to get what you want/need, you have to tolerate a little bit of stress till you get on track.
Then I learned that it's a major problem to be "smart and broke." Like a very disturbing problem. It's totally ok to be dumb and broke, that's a solid reason there but being smart and broke? Naa, it's unacceptable.
The aim of knowing the things you do isn't just for knowledge sake, it doesn't matter how much of the knowledge you have, what matters is what you do with it.
Allow me to ask, the knowledge you've gathered for so long, what have you been doing for yours or are you still waiting for the right time?
Back to my story, my idea about money changed that day. I love money, it makes life easier and for someone like me that loves money this much, it would insane to stay stuck on the " I can't afford this or the economy will change" lane. Instead of talking, I started asking questions "How can I afford it?" And it pushed my mind, heart and body to work.
The moment you start asking these hard questions, your game plan changes. Not having money is not a problem, the only problem is that you do not have ideas to help generate the money. The moment you start working on ideas, the money comes.
Most times you don't even need to meet these people for money, go with a long pad of already written out questions. Stay curious, even if it's to be tagged an interview, it's fine. These people are too loaded, I'm being honest with you. You can run with the knowledge you get from them for as long as you can.
Don't just have fun, lunch and Learn. I know an amazing woman that's currently keeping her slots open, so you can eat and learn too for a fee.
For me, nothing goes wrong with good food. And Learning in such an atmosphere is a win/win.
Lastly,
If there's anyone around you that you'd love to learn from, get close to them, learn, listen and observe. It's very important.
If you can afford to pay for mentorship, do it. If you can afford to pay for their food, do it.
Whatever you can do, get close and learn. It cuts you from a whole lot of crap and mistakes.
Find what works and replicate it/them.
Very importantly, look at the flat tummy in this picture. I cannot be working hard to keep it and still hide from you, this particular light cannot be hidden🤣
P:S: This write up isn't specifically tied to the financial wheel, I only shared my story. It covers every wheel of life. Find the people that are doing great in the wheel you want to improve and learn from them.

How I wish I could get this post out there. My country Cameroon, is so similar to Nigeria especially in the aspect of “the economy will change”. It’s so sad to see thousands of university graduates roaming the streets all saying that “The country is strong. Things are hard”, while doing absolutely nothing to change their story.
It is in fact in our hands. Your mindset is what helps you to be successful no matter where you are.
And of course your flat tummy will be noticed. It absolutely has to be😅😅.
Thank you for sharing this insightful post.
Welcome dear. I'm glad you love it.
