It could be argued that dolphins and orcas are generally the folks that have been posting with us for longer and consistently produce quality content and as such have built up HP organically. You don't see a lot of spam on their feeds and often they are very community minded and run contests and such. They are usually pretty deserving of the upvotes. The majority of my consistent support comes from these folks. I also get curated on a semi-regular basis. The whales are more likely to be investors and developers and receive the bulk of their payout through witness activities. I don't actually ever recall getting a significant whale upvote. I don't give out a lot in this direction either. The curators weed through the minnows and redfish and pick out the best to support. They do a pretty good job. It makes sense to support them either with delegation or upvote ... for the growth of the block chain. Great post, abh:)

Thank you very much :)
I agree that a number of Orca's/Dolphins have reached that level because of consistently producing decent stuff, and/or community work.
The issue for me is that now my minnow/dolphin friends are bigger, and so my votes which were once mainly heading to smaller accounts are now heading towards larger accounts.
Well, I think good work needs to be rewarded, regardless of the size of the account. I also feel the consistency deserves reward too. Fortunately, as an account gets better, it is in a better position to reward more people. I wouldn't stop rewarding those who are basically the foundation of the site but maybe just make sure that some of your upvotes go to the up and comers.
