INTRODUCTION POST

in OCD3 years ago (edited)

So I spent all night pondering on what to say when trying to describe myself. To be honest, it’s not an easy thing for me to do because I’ve got too many sides that I get confused whenever I’m asked to talk about myself. There’s the part of me that’s wild and free and then there’s the calm and conservative side. Funny enough, all sides coexist side by side without any interference with the other. There’s the loud part of me that gives people the impression that I’m a talkative and then the part that people see as very quiet too.

Some people think that I’m arrogant because of the confidence that I exude. In my country, when you are confident and believe in yourself people feel you’re pompous but I really don’t care. I like to believe that I’m a good dresser because looking good is serious business to me. It’s one thing that I took from both my mum and dad. Reading extensively about basically everything in life has greatly improved my knowledge and taught me how to handle and survive virtually every situation in life. I’m a cheerful giver and often feel bad whenever I can’t give help to the needy. My friends call me king maker because of how I love to see people succeed. As children we were thought to stick together and always support one another using the broom as an example. A broomstick is no good on its own but in the bunch, there’s nobody strong enough in the world to break them. Dare I say that I’m yet to see any man or woman who can.

BRIEF HISTORY ABOUT MYSELF

My name is Samuila Garba Rimamtawey. I’m from a small village of Kuteb speakers called Fikyu in Ussa Local Government Area of Taraba State. We’re nine in my house including my parents. Six boys and a girl from my parents and my cousin sister who has lived with us almost all her life. I’m the first son of the family and also the eldest even though my little sister acts like she’s the boss of the house. Maybe it’s that only girl child mentality that’s giving her the audacity…lol. My father recently retired from the army and we live in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria popularly known as Abuja.

EARLY LIFE

I was born in the village because my parents got married when my dad was just a school boy in the Nigerian Military School (NMS) Zaria. In those days there weren’t many schools in my village so I attended what is popularly known in my country as Akara School during my kindergarten days. From there I was taken to Enugu state where I got proper education in the Army Command Children’s School. Spent a few years there and then moved to another one in Lagos because dad got redeployed as this is a basic activity in the army. Just when my siblings and I started to enjoy life in Lagos, dad got posted back to Enugu again. It was there he decided that moving us about wasn’t good for our development. Here I spent my last year in primary school in the same Command school and then proceeded to Command Secondary School Abakaliki where I obtained my Secondary School Certificate. Then I proceeded the Godfrey Okoye University where obtained a bachelors degree in Economics.

Life in the army barracks toughened me up and made me a man at an early stage. It’s like a world of its own in there because things are done differently. We lived a regimented life (everything was done according to the rules and regulations of the command). I can still visualize the days when our dads got deployed for foreign missions especially in peak of the the Liberian and Sierra leonean conflict days. It wasn’t always joyful to be honest. In some quarters, there were jubilations while in some it was a sorrowful event . This was because some of these gallant men made it back alive while some couldn’t. There was also the case of those who made it back alive but have either lost an eye or both and even incomplete body parts.

So I thought if these brave men could give their lives to make our world a better place, I could too. This gave birth to my ambition to join the army after school. However, joining the army in my Nigeria is really difficult to the point that people even have to pay bribes just to be enlisted. So much for passion right?….smh.

FORRAY INTO AGRICULTURE

In 2018, my dad started a farm just on the outskirts of Abuja because that has been a life long dream of his. So after his retirement, that became the family business. Since I graduated from school and there was no job, I had to join him in the farm. We engage in the cultivation of cash crops such as maize, rice, soy beans and sesame seeds. To be sincere, it was a daunting task as first but as time went on and I got more experience working there, it became easier. It was there that I discovered the worth of farmers because of what they go through to make the food we consume available. Farming in Nigeria is quite difficult and risky because of the persistent clashes with nomadic herdsmen and their cattle. These herders lead their flock into peoples farms and cause enormous damage to crops which lead to huge losses. This has been going on for while and we hope to one day be able find a lasting solution to the problem so that farmers can be able to cultivate crops to maximum capacity while the nomads also find a way to feed their flock without encroachment into people’s farmlands.bb656ec2_1f6c_43c1_9098_f542b794a553.jpeg

HOBBIES

I enjoy anything sports related especially football because it gives me joy and relaxes my mind. I’m a fan of the English Premier League and a strong supporter of Chelsea Football Club. Everyone but two of my siblings support the same team as myself. I also enjoy reading books and articles online. I enjoy motivational books, politics and life hacks. The wealth of knowledge in books inspire my love for them. Other activities I enjoy are hunting and fishing especially when I’m at the farm with my dad.

MY AMBITION IN LIFE

I hope to one day be a voice to the voiceless, give food to the needy and provide shelter for the homeless. Hunger and starvation is a real disaster and citizens of third world countries are bearing the brunt of this epidemic. Violent crimes and terrorism cannot be stopped until the vast resources of the world are evenly distributed to the people instead of being hoarded by the few capable groups that have the power to.

HOW DID YOU LEARN ABOUT HIVE?

Last year, during the holidays, while having a few drinks with my friend and brother @milezofplay, he told me about a platform where one could write and blog about virtually everything ranging from short stories to cryptocurrency. Here I am now making my introductory post and I hope that I don’t ever bore you on this ride with me. I’m so excited to be able to join and share your wealth of knowledge on this platform.

Have a wonderful day.Welcome to Hive @rimamty. I found really inspiring what you wrote about your ambitions in life. I too think that there is too much inequality in our world, there are really few people who control 99% of the resources and leave the rest to the rest of the world and this is not right. HIVE and crypto in general can be a solution to redistribute some of the world health equally, so have faith my friend and I really hope that you will realize all of your amazing goals.
