Introduction time: Hey there, this is just another human here to introduce herself and join the community.
Hello Hive, hello on here,
I'm Gloria but I very much prefer to be called Schoolgirl. It's what I've always been called. I'm Nigerian, a student of Obafemi Awolowo University. I am a polyglot— A native English speaker, an intermediate-level French speaker, and I dabble in languages like German, Japanese and American Sign.
I am a writer, I write fictional stories; romance, suspense and thrillers, slice of life, crime, sci-fi. Most times I prefer my stories evolve around tragedy or tragicomedy. I am also a poet. They say I talk a lot so I channel my words into writing, if humans complain, papers definitely wont. I love poetry because it makes English more enjoyable. I recently ventured into spoken words and voice acting and they are an interesting lot.
When I was in secondary school, JSS 2, my fine art teacher taught various definitions of art, I never really loved Fine Art because it was stressful and he was a scary teacher, but out of the many definitions, I picked one. "Art is an expression of feelings". Since then, most things I do, my hobbies and way of life go by that definition. It's more like a principle now. It helps me to leave "the box" and explore.
I love cooking, I see it as experiments and each time I'm chanced, I try other methods of cooking. I always want to find out "what happens if I don't follow the set instructions or ingredients that has never been used?" And no, I don't cook rubbish😅.
I love trying out new things, sometimes it's scary but what is life without little fears that breeds excitements? Learning new skills, meeting new people, standing before a new audience, I love challenges and no matter how scary it is, I still face them.
I love sports too!!!🤭🤭 After God, family and dancing, it's sports. From football to basketball, to badminton, to volleyball, I love them all and I play a few too. I love watching anime. It gives me this soothing calm when I'm frustrated or have the kind of headache that paracetamol won't understand.
Sometimes I forget I'm a fashion designer. I love when people bring ideas, are scared that it won't be possible to bring to life and then are wowed by it's possibility. I don't just sew clothes, I design them and give the clothes the ability to speak for themselves.
However, after all said, I am just an introverted girl trying to leave her "hole". I am just human and I hope to settle well in this community. I look forward to every positive thing, opportunities and whatnot that the community has to offer.
