Nemo- The Underwater Hooligan

in OCD5 years ago (edited)

Despite the image this fish may have due to the movie "Finding Nemo" this little guy is a very aggressive fellow indeed. Not fazed in the slightest by your size they will aggressively rush out of their anemone and challenge you head on. If you listen carefully you can also hear them chomping their teeth as if to scare you off.

We have often joked that if they were a big fish we would be far too afraid to go scuba diving as they would rip us to shreds such is their level of aggression towards any would be intruder that dare to come into their territory.

However they are completely harmless and their aggressive behavior is really quite amusing and I am often actually chuckling underwater as they try and scare me off with their football hooligan type demeanor. Little tough guys.

They are actually pretty cool guys all in all. Fun to watch and really nice to capture on film. Luckily they are to be found in abundance also all over the reef system and you can easily find yourself captivated watching them dart in and out of their little home.

These shots were all taken in Moalboal on the island of Cebu in the Philippines. The wildlife here is amazing with a huge coral wall running from north to south for several kilometers with many turtles, schools of sardines, frog fish and the occasional whaleshark to keep us all excited. It truly is a wonderful place full of life
