I remember not too long ago, while I was in the Swat region, I would often find my eyes stuck on a mountain peak from afar, hiding behind its kind, glorious as far as your eyes could see. I remember wanting to be closer still no matter how much we had travelled.
Naturally, I joined a few facebook communities where people have explored these regions like I couldn't even dare to. It's when I came accross the extreme sport that is mountain climbing. I was just in time to see the Sherpas race towards the mighty K2 and stand tall at a historic summit. I remember checking my phone way too often for updates and I remember the joy their success brought me.
Unfortunately, the sport was quick to show me some lows. During this campaign, 2 brothers have already lost their life and now,
Our hero, M Ali Sadpara along with his two of his fellows Snorri and Juan have not been heard from in the past 48 hours. His son, who was with them, made the descent from the bottleneck area (the most notorious part of K2) after facing some problems with oxygen and reports that the 3 climbers were in good health and shape which keeps hopes up but not by much. The window is closing in and we're all waiting for a miracle now. Come on out you champ, you got some 8000ers left to climb!
I heard the bad news, we have a huge Dutch climbers association and the fact that it’s been so many hours can’t be good.

Yeah the freezing cold temperatures make it impossible to survive at the summit, lost a great man fulfilling his dream, may he rest in peace.
