CURBING MY ADDICTIONS

in OCD3 years ago

Hello beautiful people of Hive,I want to say a massive thanks for reading my stories,I always bring you originality both in story and pictures.
Today,I bring to you my addiction (s).
I believe addiction can be defined as a habit one does or involve in regularly, something you cannot do without and it becomes an integral part of them.

SMOKING INDOORS
We all know that a high percentage of men cannot do without tobacco or anything that contains nicotine,I know some of you might be frowning at my post right now but before you judge me,you should know my reason (s), anyways, back in Ontario Canada,I work in the open waters(rig),alot of times we are exposed to harsh weather conditions even as a truck driver,to keep warm,we always have time to sit and take a drag just to stay warm and do your job to the later.
But it might interest you to know that am a very reserved smoker, well what I mean is I only smoke indoors or coded places, not because am hiding from anyone but in order not to disturb anyone with inhaling substances not too healthy for their system.

In as much as i know the health implications,I find myself with a pack always in my pocket..... Lol

LOVE OF CARS
Another addiction I possess is the love for cars, not flashy cars though, but strong, dogged and economical too.
Our roads here require mostly SUVS if you understand what I mean.
Am in love with Toyota products, below is my latest Toyota FJ.

ALCOHOL
Hmmmm.......I know by now, only a few will understand my outlined addiction(s), anyways, these addictions are dependent on my line of job too.

Why did I make this comment,I did because all these addictions started when I got the job,at first I was taking tea, while 95% of my colleagues including women were hooked on cigarettes, Brandy and whiskey.
I couldn't continue sipping tea always,I decided to give it a shot and indeed it didn't just hear up my system,it gave me this kick that energized me till the close of work.
Did I try it the next day,yes I did,it was a rainy day at work and as usual we were left in the mercy of the harsh weather condition,we served ourselves to a bottle of Scotch drink and a pack of cigarettes, but note, all these takes place after our working hours, except for the fact that we do have tea and cigarettes breaks.

CURBING IT
Am now married to a very beautiful woman and my little Princess,I began to make conscious effort to curb this addictions, now I've totally and completely quit smoking and am currently working on quitting heavy drinking because I want to stay alive and healthy for my beautiful family.
Now,am an actor,I also make conscious effort not to accept roles that involves smoking and drinking,I want to be a role model to my family.

WORDS OF ADVICE
Kindly and politely shut up and shut out any friend who would want to lure you back to your old ways.

Each time you feel like smoking or drinking, just look at a picture of your lovely family and imagine good times you will love to have with them and also remember you made a promise to quit, don't make them loose their trust in you.
Always look for a healthy habit to replace the bad and old ones.
I've replaced smoking with eating carrots regularly.

Interesting! Good job boss.

Love this, it's good that you've found a replacement for your addiction.

For me, I have many bad habits and have been able to curb many also.
Knowing yourself is also important, when I know something is bad for me, I do not try it because when I do, I do not stop until when I decide stopping.

Stay well for the family.

Thanks @boscohage, staying alive and healthy is the best gift you can gift yourself.
