Clucking Birds

Hello friends,

Here today with some fun pictures of the very large hen house that our local farms got. This means delicious eggs all the time!

Hen House

So the hen house is actually quite large and thankfully very secure. These hens live in it all day during the spring, summer and fall. I don’t know where they go for the winter, they might keep them there but close up the sides to keep them warmer. We will have to ask them what they do.

This is the back half of the hen house. It’s pretty large inside!

The front half here faces the inside part of the barn where the kids can buy feed and feed them. Funny enough but we were just messing around once and put some grass in there for them and they ate it right up! Now we just pick the grasses and the things like dandelion greens and others to give it to them and they love it. Free feed for us and the chickens don’t seem to mind. The people who work there don’t tell us not to do it so we haven’t stopped.

The little one feeding one of the chickens through the fence on the outside part of their enclosure. Wait until you see the size of it!

So it’s about the length of a soccer/ football field. It’s huge! We don’t see the chickens out there too often so we try and coax them out with the grasses so they can get out and eat bugs to make our eggs taste better! Not selfish on that..

View from the other side. Lots of flowers and wild things growing all around. Provides lots of opportunities for them to eat tasty bugs and grasses. It’s all completely closed on the top with netting so that hawks or other things can’t come and swoop down and steal a plump meal like a chicken.
