suggestedWe are starting afresh on the Hive blockchain, so @anomadsoul has that we do fresh introduction posts here. This is being sponsored by @blocktrades and @ocdb.
I joined Steem back in August 2016 after the collapse of the Tsu social platform. My friend from there @the-bitcoin-dood introduced me to Steem and I immediately saw the potential. Unfortunately Steem has been trashed by the new owner of Steemit and so I have completely moved over to Hive.
My tagline has been The Geeky Guitarist. I have played guitar for many years, but never professionally. I just enjoy making music and writing songs. I have formed a duo called @swing47 with a clarinettist and we did our first (free) festival gig last year. This picture was when we tried some busking. We mostly play old jazz tunes. I have participated in several of the Steemit and Hive music contests including over 100 entries in the old Open Mic contest.
I play acoustic and electric for fun. I started a pub session years ago that has really grown, but is on hold in the current crisis.
I class myself as a geek through being into computers for over 40 years from the days of 8 bit home computers (BBC Micro), through more powerful machines (Amiga 500 and 1200) to modern machines (running Linux). I am a professional developer working on aerospace projects these days. I have not done much on coding for the blockchain as yet, but I hope to do something eventually.
One of my other activities is running. I only really started doing this a few years ago after years of little interest in sport, but I decided I needed to look after my body. This is me finishing my first half marathon a couple of years back. I have found lots of fellow runners on the blockchain and even run with some of them.
I attended lots of events around Steem including Steemfest 2 and 3, Steemcamp UK (twice) and numerous other events in London, Cambridge and even organised one in my home town Arlesey. I hope to get to more for the Hive community.

I think we have a responsibility to help make the blockchain a better place to be. I participated in efforts to deal with abuse with @steemflagrewards and am looking into what we can do on Hive. So far there has not been so much here, but it will happen. It is not just about personal profit. I want to help build something that can benefit creative people around the world.
If you follow me you will see a mix of these topics and many other things. I post about what interest me. It may be that communities will allow us to focus on our particular interests. I may also post vlogs recorded when I am out with my chickens.
I have hopes that Hive can become what Steem should have been, but that depends on us.
Hive five!
I've been following you for a long time on Steem, Steve. I'm glad to see you showing up here on Hive. 👋
Cheers. I struggle to keep up with who everyone is. As a fairly shy guy it's weird to have so many strangers following me, but many have become friends over the years.
I really enjoyed reading your intro post. I have know you on Steem for like two years and I feel like I have not see any recent pictures. Its also cool to put a face to an account.
I am sure you must have seen some pictures recently. I have posted a few music videos with my face in them. Anyway, happy to please.
You are right! I watched one of your videos a few weeks ago I guess I never put 1 and 1 together because I'm listening to content and not really looking at the person. I just opened the video and there you where lol!
A most excellent introduction Steve!
Nice to find out something new, I didn't actually know you were a developer, only that you worked in the aerospace industry.
I'm surprised you haven't knocked out a few coding projects for Hive, I guess that's too much like the day job?
Great running photo!

A good intro here Sir Steve and well written.
Blessings!
I love that pic Steve :)
It was a cool few days. Looking forward to a Hivefest some time.
Hey, Just seen this mention. Hope all is well my friend. I've been hypnotized by the news and haven't left my couch in about a week. CoronaVirus comes to the US. Finally forced myself to get out of my funk and boot up a computer. I like this idea of a reintroduce yourself post. I'm going to try and put one together soon. Hope all is well with you and yours. Stay safe and healthy! Cheers from Buffalo NY.
We're all fine and tolerating the restrictions. I know it's worse elsewhere. Don't watch the news too much. Chill out with a movie or some music.
Glad to hear you're doing well. The restrictions are weird everywhere. Been chilling out more with less news and more movies and entertainment. Bought a cigar box slide guitar kit, and started playing again. I haven't been able to put this thing down.
You ever play one of these? They're a lot of fun!
I need one of those for my collection. Not that I am any good at slide.
Seriously, you'll probably get good at it really quick! It is so much fun. First time playing slide for me too. I bought a kit for $24 USD on Amazon. You pretty much just string it, doesn't sound that great in an amp, but acoustic sound is great IMO. I made a couple small modifications. I cut the bolt head at the bridge so my slide stopped hitting it and played around with different sized bolts for different actions. Ordering another kit soon for a fretted version. If you get one, let me know and I'll send you some links for tutorials, and tablature. I might start posting some videos on Hive if I can just get a little cleaner sound out of it. I'm a little sloppy but it's been at least 10 years since I touched a guitar, let alone play slide.
You're cool, nice to meet you :))
Good hive introduction man. I wrote my own also 2 days ago
I'm hoping a fresh start will bring good things. Less spam & scam and more engagement. Happy to see you here!
We can hope, but we need to be vigilant. Onwards and upwards!
Ooh, I will have to take part in this. Is there a deadline or is it just open? I will try to circle back to it on Monday if that isn't too late.
Not sure when it runs out, if at all. Go for it!
Welcome over to HIVE! Glad you're here and nice to catch your intro post. I never knew all this about you.
That's the true spirit of a blockchain ambassador. And your spontaneous content is what I like the best - just something that happens in every day life.
Cheers. I try to keep it real and I enjoy hearing what others are up to. I need a mix of content on my feed.
this post on yesterday. Now your introduction post proves you were that guy! Happy to get to know many of you talented people on HIVE!I thought @markkujantunen was the pioneer in computer after reading his
