November 21st could have been just another typical morning—busy, maybe even boring—but God had other plans. By afternoon, my mother went into labor. After three boys, I'm sure my arrival as the family’s long-awaited princess was a delightful surprise, making my grand entrance fashionably late in the day. I've always enjoyed a bit of drama, so naturally, I waited until the very last moment to complete Mr. Gambo’s family.
Who am I? Well, as you’ve already guessed, I’m the daughter and sister I’ve just mentioned. But I’m also a Christian, an Engineering student, and—brace yourself—a Shoemaker. Yes, you read that right. I can practically see you trying to connect the dots here. I’m also a friend to some and admired by others. My story wouldn’t be complete without these little quirks that make up my life.
I grew up in Kaduna, and aside from that, I’ve only lived in two other states in Nigeria. I’ve never been on a plane, but who needs airplanes when you can travel the world through the pages of a good novel, right? My home is the quintessential example of African culture, where women rule the kitchen and men are the breadwinners. Personally, I’ve always liked the idea of a partnership where couples play to their strengths, but let’s save that discussion for another day.
I won’t bore you with too many details right now. Today, I’m just excited to join this family, and I look forward to sharing more stories about my life as a daughter, sister, shoemaker, engineering student, and a person admired by many 😍
