While today was Sunday, due to what is going on in the world of Corona, my wife has to work some weekends and so far, has "randomly" pulled the two long weekends thus far, so it was a Daddy/ Daughter day again. We kept ourselves busy.
that she is taking care of...On the Friday holiday, we trialed a few new fruits with @smallsteps and she reacted to at least one. Saturday we repeated one of them, Satsuma manadarin which went well enough and today, it was kiwis turn, which went fine - so it looks like she is still allergic to fresh strawberries - the only thing we have growing in the garden -
However, we did make something that she could eat and now that she is a little bigger, she really likes joining in and getting her hands dirty when we make her meat balls and "hamburger patties".
Recipe:
- Minced meat
- A pinch of salt
(we didn't have salt)
In the oven on 220C for a while.
We should have our own cooking show.
Regardless of the blandness of these things, she really likes them and loves that she is the one who makes them. She is courteous of course though, and thanked me for helping her get them ready. She is quite precise in the kitchen (as she is in most things) and enjoys trying to make the meatballs a uniform size and spreading them out on the oven tray. Food stuff with kids can likely be messy, but I think she has a little bit of OCD and other than literally a handful of accidental spills over the years, she is about as clean as a kid can be while cooking and eating.
Then there was a little renovation interlude, where I continued tearing down walls and ripping up floors for what will be the future bathroom. The plumber was here the other day to take the toilet and sink out (as well as add a few taps in other parts of the house) and tomorrow we will hear from one carpenter to see if he can make it here to prep a load-bearing wall for us this week. So, I have to make sure that as much of the pre-work is done to save their time and effort as, they charge by the hour.
Because we are converting a dry area into a wet, extra work and caution has to be taken to make sure it is done right, as a leaking second story into a house with a wooden core, isn't likely to end well. What I am really happy about is that the sawdust that I have pulled out from both warm and cold areas is bone dry.
Then lastly...
they are too sweet. While she looks like me, acts like me and is generally as bad-tempered as I am - this is where we diverge sharply - She doesn't have a sweet tooth.@smallsteps has been wanting to do this since she heard that this is a thing - but we haven't had the tchance before her bedtime - toasting marshmallows. She has only just started eating marshmallows (after testing) and she is pretty stoked with them except
On Friday (May Day) the tradition is to have munkki - cinnamon donuts - and my wife gave her a tiny piece of a gluten-free one and she tried it and said it was "too sugary"
as if that is ever a thing...
She ate one and a half marshmallows and now, she won't sleep - sugar high. Which is kind of interesting if you think that since she generally has no added sugar and reacts like this, what it must be doing to the kids that eat it all the time and how it affects their body, thoughts and processes. My wife feels bad that she doesn't really get any sugary treats, but I don't mind her choosing a slice of pear over a bun, lingonberries over marshmallows.
day time with her though and if the weather holds a little, we might head out into the garden and burn off some marshmallows - as I had more than one and a half.Tomorrow is the start of my furlough period so I will only be working 3 days a week from now on - but I have a feeling that there will be more than 60% of my usual workload to do anyway. I should be doing the renovation work during this time, but it is a bit hard with my wife working and @smallsteps not being in daycare at the moment. It will be nice to spend some
"Daddy, you're having another one?"

You can take decent pictures as well as you are good with words :)
I am so glad i am done with my bathroom already though i like tearing things down. It gives a feeling of accomplishment since visual change is great (not so appealing though).
These are cheat pictures - my phone. Though I do try to get a decent angle and edit them a bit to make them slightly more like I took them myself :D
I am looking forward to the bathroom getting done. I can't do much of it myself. The working plan:
That actually might be a good thing:) I did it all by myself as a part of my self thought therapy, but it would have been better if someone more experienced did it.
And it is very useful to have a working plan. Judging from the drawing it would be nice to have some hook for towels closer to shower cabin. You would avoid the need for excessive cleaning after each showering.
I did one too, i used Homestyler free, very intuitive and easy to use. You can add real looking furniture, spin rotate and all if it helps for your future projects.
My wife wouldn't like the results of my work - tearing stuff down is more my area of expertise :)
The other side, it has a heated towel rack.

I will check it out, as currently I am using a trial of Stetchup, something I used to use a million years ago.
This is the only thing i am decently efficient in :)
Ok, your are good then :)
If it gets job done, it's all you need. I never used anything before in my entire life, so just found it and loved visual representation. Helps a lot as things in the head tend to look different. And the final result was close to that in the drawing.

I am sure it will continue for a long time to come - "Daddy, you are fat"
🤣
The shots are cool man thw one she plays with the meat.
Hopes good for your family.
Plays? That is serious cooking happening! :D
She is so cute 🙌
Indeed she is - in this, she took after her mother :)
Yes dear 🤗🌸🙌best wishes to your family 👪
Yes she is cute in overload.
The bonus of course is that although she looks and acts like her father, she has the cuteness of her mother.
A good thing that she doesn't fancy sweet things, my gran used to say anything that is bitter is good for you!
Sweet rewards the moment, bitter the rest of life :)
Well said.
Our new mighty versed tradesman:)
3 days a week is still something I suppose. I lost one client today as it was announced they have hit the wall. I am wondering how many I am going to have left.
Lucky your daughter doesn't like sugary things as my grandson found the jelly babies today and it took 2 extra hours to get him to sleep.
Yep - I am hoping my own business will pull through, but it is touch and go.
She has my body type, so I hope she doesn't start craving carbs :D
Lets hope your business pulls through and doesn't need an ICU afterwards. I phoned around today and it is not too bad out there right now besides the companies hitting the wall. Some are making ends meet right now.
I certainly wouldn't. That's preference for the healthier option built in. A lack of desire for something that you enjoy but is bad for you is a blessing. How can anyone object such a thing?
I think it is especially apparent around events, like birthdays and holidays. So much of the tradition is tied to certain kinds of food that there is the sense of missing out on the tradition, if not eating the treat.
Well, that's definitely true, if you cannot eat what's on offer. I thought about the idea of not preferring to eat the treat.
Yeah, she doesn't mind that part - but @momone is quite into the Finnish traditions like this.
I see.
Haaaa..... I too suffer from the dreaded "Sweet Tooth."
Great post, love the family stuff, thanx 4 sharing.!!
It is a cross most must bear :D
Hope your wooden building core is fine (I don't know how much of it you're finding in your renos), we had some nasty surprises when we redid our bathroom XD
knock on wood, so far so good structurally - in this area. There have been a couple surprises in a few others though - nothing to major yet.
Beautiful, @tarazkp. You have a beautiful kitchen assistant, and very disciplined by what you say. Greetings.
She is like a little soldier :D
OMG your daughter is so cute!!!! And looks like you! Hope you're doing well! Looking forward to be active again here on Hive and reading loads of articles!
Welcome back/in Eve - How are things with you guys?
heyyy...well not great heheh, things could be better, but we're hanging i there.... his virus has really screwed with our lives, to say the least. Hopefully we'll come out of this stronger. On a positive note, I'm really enjoying the family time, and I'm sure you are too =)
The family time is great for us I think, though I am someone that needs just a little space from time to time too :)
This virus nonsense is nonsense...
