I believe that beneficial passions win over evil.
For sure and I think some of those evils might contribute in driving some of that good too. society rarely changes until we are in enough pain.

Yes I agree if we understand passion as a persistent feeling it can lead to good deeds, beyond the religious one, but referring to society.
